*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

For the love of god can everyone post that their nexus is perfect, tip top, A1, top of the class otherwise Tom D is going to question every single report and drive us all flipping crazy!

Tom, seriously we know you have OCD, you know you have OCD, we don't need a reminder every 3 posts.

I was asking a question out of curiosity. However I do have a question for you, where did you study your psychology degree?

Sarcasm btw. :p

Can we start a separate thread without Tom_D for actual owners of Nexus 7s? Everything of interest is getting lost with him asking about people's screens, what other tablets there are and now even where someone got their psychology degree. Literally half of the posts in this thread are by Tom_D or about Tom_D (yes I see the irony). It's one thing to have OCD but it appears to have turned into some kind of attention seeking issue now.

How about we just talk about the Nexus 7? We know some have problems, we know some fixes.

I've installed the TV Catchup beta now, working brilliant. Along with the Modaco ROM with iPlayer which is working *really* well it's just Sky Go that would make me keep my iPad if there was a 10 inch Android tablet this good.

Anyone with the screen raise, please consider the fix I did which was lost in all these posts - the rear removes so easily with a sharpened credit card then the foam tape that is pushing the screen up can be easily removed (and replaced if you want to send it back in the future).

Rang Tesco about it, refunded me £20 and going to swap it before the weekend. 3rd and final attempt.

Annoying because I had refused a Google Play delivery today too. ffs!

Growing really hard to appreciate this device.

Tom_D's entire reason for existance = this thread apparantly. Don't be mad at him... pity him. :p

Sorry to disappoint, but my missus has no complaints, no dead pixels, no screen lift, and she absolutely loves it

edit

she has one complaint, installing angry birds and it hasn't saved her progress, she has to start again. I don't think we will send it back over that :)

So much for the order being stopped. They've just shipped it. Now I'll either return it or make a film of it being destroyed. What a choice!

Received mine (16GB) today from GP. Got the shipping email early this morning at 1am!

The faults that others are posting here don't look apparent on mine so far, I think I may have a good 'un but only time will tell.

Thanks for sharing these tips about TVCatchup in particular. Assume the Modaco ROM is for a rooted device only? Would be nice if BBC gets its finger out and provides us with an HTML5 app for the N7.

Agree with your sentiments about sticking with tips and tools and suggestions for use of the N7. By the way, mine is defect free and love it.

Oh yes, one other thing: if Google and the EU can reach an agreement in principle (as reported today) over anti-trust issues that are far more complex than whether the N7 screen can be lifted 0.5 mm or whether a device has a dead pixel, perhaps there is hope for Tom to reform too and stick to discussing the device when he actually takes delivery of one? Just my humble opinion.

I've already had one.

I'm going to keep getting them until I get a good one. Not giving up. lol I refuse to be beaten by Asus.

I'm already pretty invested in this thing with books and what not, don't fancy reading those on my phone or web browser.

I think this will be my attitude. I didn't get long with the tablet last time as I sent it straight back because of the screen lift but I can't wait to get to grips with it.

How is e-reading on the Nexus 7? I'd think it'd strain the eyes after a while.
