***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Don't like the blue or the white?

Get the Red, White and Blue Version especially for the Olympics :D

You even get a Royal Guard guy to sit in your speakerphone socket ;)

That's just a case is it not?

Nope, Complete phone

Samsung had previously announced that there would be a special edition of the Samsung GALAXY Note phablet produced for the Summer Olympics in London.Samsung has really done this thing right, including a little figurine of a Royal Guard soldier that plugs into the device's 3.5mm earphone jack and doesn't have any function except to look cool. There are three figurines that come with a Union Jack stand representing three sports that are seen in the Summer Olympics: cycling, weight lifting and Tae Kwon Do. And if you don't like the Marble White, Pebble Blue or Garnet Red (at AT&T only) colors that the Samsung Galaxy S III is offered in, the Summer Olympic Games edition can be purchased with a Union Jack or Royal Guard soldier theme

That's a case and a stand, not a charger.

Buyers who get this are gonna get MUGGED....by Samsung.

Spoilsports!

When i first came across the article and it said about a special red white and blue olympic version I thought great, that's different.

It would appear that you just get wallpaers, case, stand and the figure with it so a bit dissapointing

Would have been cool if they had done a proper one though

So I reckon I've got two choices regarding getting a Galaxy S3. I'm on a 24 month Vodafone contract until May 2013 but I can upgrade from February 25th 2013. My HTC Sensation just doesn't feel like it's good enough for me anymore! :D A major bugbear, if not THE major bugbear for me with the Sensation is the ruddy USB port being on the ruddy side of the phone and not at the ruddy bottom. The problems I have trying to get the ruddy Sensation plugged onto its ruddy dock really get on my nerves now. I've even contemplated the unthinkable! Yes, no dock, just a cable and leave my phone on the desk!!

  • I can either wait until September/October, when I'll have paid 2-3 months worth of the contract off, and offer to pay up the rest of my contract with Vodafone to start a new one with an S3. I note that Vodafone offer 12, 18 and 24 month contracts for the S3 on their site. I'd probably go for an 18 month contract if I went down this route.

    -OR-

  • I can buy an S3 sim-free now/August and just use the SIM card from my Sensation and either renew my contract in May 2013 or get a new contract and SIM from Vodafone and carry on as I am now.
My reasons for going through Vodafone is that I want to keep my number and I have to stay with Vodafone because I use their Sure Signal box to give me any kind of network reception in my underground lair.

Another reason for thinking about changing phone sooner rather than later is that my iPod is on its way out. If I can find a phone that will either take a large enough card to carry my ENTIRE music collection (currently 72.2GB!! :o) OR a phone that will allow me to span my music collection over a smaller card AND the onboard memory then I could be tempted into ditching my iPod. I reckon the 16GB S3 and a 64GB microSD would fit my collection between them but how easy would it be to convince to phone to see them as a single collection? Would it be better to find a 128GB microSD card, if any exist, and hope the S3 would support/recognise it?

So option A or option B? Beg Vodafone for mercy or man up and go sim free and rebel against Western society's expectations? :p

B has gotta be cheaper, surely. Flog the HTC for a few quid and use it on the contract you just took.

Far as the music thing goes I don't think you'll find a card bigger than 64Gb, but you could :
A) Delete duplicates - you know you buy an album and then get the "best of.." and you end up with two copies of the same track. Add in deleting some crappy tracks and you may just get it down to 64GB :)

B) From when I played around I am pretty sure that the music app just looks for all media - so if its on the card or internal memory it doesn't matter.

I would suggest you think about a 32Gb phone. If you are big on media and put 8Gb of music on internal memory it only leaves you 3Gb for everything else (texts, pics, movies etc).
