Yesterday my PC was set to sleep. When I went to wake it I had a BSOD (something Kernel I think).

Rebooted and it could not find my Boot drive (SSD). Tired another Sata port, still the same. I have tried in in an Z68 machine aswell.

The Bios in both does not see the SSD.

So am I right saying its DEAD.

what model ssd? if you do manage to get it seen in windows maybe a secure erase would help? be sure to use latest mb bios also

Patriot Torqx 64GB 2.5" SATA-II Solid State Hard Drive. Not the best drive, but it did come with a 10 year warranty.

I can not get the bios to see it. So windows will not see it correct.

Could be faulty then, could try clearing mb cmos, make note of bios settings first, then see if BIOS picks it up,if not I would rma

I thought Sleep mode with SSD's was a big no no due to hanging and BSOD problems ...just like the op has experienced ?

I have never read not to put a SSD machine to sleep.

Just did a quick qoogle and found quite a bit about it.

These are just some random quotes of one site .....

"Crucial also suggested not to let their (or any) SSD sleep, because they don't do that well."

Also, there are many reported issues with a SSD bricking after waking up, so it isn't worth it to me

Never really looked into that, but i generally disable sleep mode on my builds as standard and not had an 'in operation' SSD failure, always fails if it has to at bootup for some reason.
