hi all

firstly let me point out im a bit of a newbie ;)

Im currently doing a build for myself
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18427463

I have purchased 2 samsung 830 128gb ssd to set up in raid 0 array. Someone pointed out in my log that my raid array would not have TRIM support. After looking up what TRIM was, it has sent me panicking.

I have now looked into this further and have come accross people claiming that intel now or are planning TRIM support in a raid 0 array.

Does anyone know anything about this? Has the driver been released yet? Does my motherboard support it? The sabertooth claims to have intel RST support. Is it a case of updateing drivers? I have seen people talking about updating certain OROM (whatever that is) in there bios. Frankly that seems a little above my pay grade so to speak.

Honestly my head is baffled.

As always, any and all advise will be greatly appreciated. :D

yes thats right, you can modify the bios to include the latest bios rom,i think its only supported with win8 though, not sure they got it working on win7 yet (raid0 trim)

i dont see any real benefit from raiding ssd's,its upto you really but the hassle isnt worth it imo,and raid drivers that support trim are still in early stages, supposed to be coming out for months n months

your right that RAID 0 on SSD's does not support TRIM.

This just means that the garbage management on the SSD's do the work instead of windows.

RAID TRIM is still in development and intel have said there working on it for ages now.

I'm running my M4's in RAID 0 have no problems at all.

Super fast and have about 100GB left now from 2 * 128GB drives.

Intel have been "working on it" for some time, the only way you will get it when/if they complete it is if:

- The motherboard vendor updates the BIOS with the new Intel Raid OROM in it (Usually never happens for older models)
- You modify it yourself (lol good luck) or someone else does it (Can you absolutely trust it to be proper bo?)

Not long seen MIB III then eh? :p

What version of the OROM do you have? (should say at boot).

Unfortunately I haven't seen MIB 3, it's a pretty common quote tho to be fair!!

I'm sticking with my 2 SSD, I hear that windows 8 will support TRIM anyways.

And second question, I'm still building my rig. Will be done for weekend.

Won't make much diff but there you go.
