Hotmail replaced by Outlook.com

Google can manage your domain mails too. Why have a client on a desktop when everything is managed via push across all devices? GMail's interface > Outlook/Thunderbird etc. It's just far too powerful a system.

Because there is no way in hell I am trusting google with anything important?

Although it takes a while. Linux and its email tools make for a very powerfull and custom system.

How do I create an alias? I get to the screen to either "create a new" or "use a dIfferent" address but I don't know which to choose in case it loses my other address.

not enjoying the awkward look the guy gives me while gazing at me trying to remember my 10 year old hotmail password lol.

no it doesnt, it should run on anything as its html5.
certainly works on both firefox and safari.

Opera is fully HTML5 compliant and it is broken in Opera.

Actually thinking MS could ever code something standards compliant is laughable!

Also, constantly getting the following when trying to add an alias:

There's a temporary problem with the service. Please try again. If you continue to get this message, try again later.

Anyone else?

If I try something that is taken it says so but even random strings on any of the selectable domains returns the above error. Been like this for a few hours.

have they done anything to improve security?

https, ip logging/display of previous ip's that logged onto the account, sms pin service if you've not previously logged on from a particular device in the past 30 days?

used to have a hotmail account but I think I'll still stick with gmail for the moment

Looks fine to me - very feature rich and easy to use which is what you want. Prefer it to the other free providers out there - mainly for the rules alone.

There's a few reasons why only 3 people and a dog use opera, non of them are good. It's a nice idea but in reality it's a pile of poo with a number of superior alternatives available for all but the most ardent Opera fans. Let's face it, it's free and still no one wants it, how good can it be!! :) ;) :D

This looks like either a kids version of hotmail or hotmail for the visually impaired.
Ironic that for years Microsoft get accused of bloat and not understanding people want clean, quick minimalist software that let's you get in, do what you need to do and get out. Now apparently it's not bloaty enough :D ;)

Quite like it. Was of mixed opinion last night but it is growing on me. They need to change all the back end stuff though so I can update my profile. Good that they redirect my old .com emails to the new .co.uk
