Long Haul flights with babies.......

I know you've said you've moving over there so I'll let you off... was originally going to say how inconsiderate you were being :)

I haven't read every reply so not sure if this has been mentioned, but I know people who have had some success using portable DVD players to keep the small ones occupied during flights.

You could try dipping their dummy into some alcoholic drink (I know probably be frowned upon but as a one off it won't do any harm).

Good luck :)

take the baby, who is going to remeber you or even care after the flight is over? yeah a baby is pretty annoying but you have little choice.

I normally give my Champagne to the baby.

He/She normally downs it then proceeds to slur like a sir before nodding off for a good kip :D

On my last flight back from Portugall I had this miserable git who instantly assumed my 4 yr old and 1 yr old would be trouble, fortunately they were good as gold, no crying no whining etc, unfortunately this wasnt enough for mr grumpy and he kept telling my kids to shut up so I promptly told him to stfu or he would get pasted all over the airport car park once we landed. Not a peep out of him after that.

We took our 7 month old on a 4 hour flight, she was very good, she was entertained by toys etc, the usual.

We're off to NYC in December and she'll be a year old.

Deal with it :p

We shouldn't have to deal with it though, its your problem not ours.

Why should we pay hundreds of pounds then suffer for the whole 8 hours?

because you cant afford a private jet..

could someone also ban the person who said kill it with fire as i find it deeply disturbing..

my daughter of 16 months never cries, even after getting her injections stopped straight after i told her she was ok..

not all baby's are the same.. i agree its annoying but i wouldn't go as far to say parents shouldn't go on holiday

Has anyone flown long haul with a baby? I am flying from London to Sydney with a 6 month old baby in a months time and could use some reassurance/wise words/general anaesthetic.

It'll be fine, get a bassinet seat by booking the correct seats on the plane, and the child will be fine, 6-11 months is sweet spot, any older and it's a flipping mess, as they can escape and refuse to sit still.

What airline are you flying with?

I'd rather sit next to a baby than a fat obese person.

Think about it. It's a baby. The sound of its cry can easily be drowned out by the sound of the engines paired with some in flight entertainment, also babies are cute. On the other hand, the bulging fat of a fat man will be forever overhanging the arm rest the duration of the flight. Furthermore, the easy sweating of fat men paired with the increased skin surface area will be a breeding ground for stink and bacteria.

If someone boarded the plane projectile vomiting, would that be fine?

New studies have found that a baby who may or may not cry is not the same as a person who is projectile vomitting!

Also a person who is ill should be allowed to travel home, if he's not got a disease obviously.

It raises the question though - what aspect of a human's behaviour is acceptable on a plane? There's clearly a line to be drawn. Crying babies are really quite annoying.
