Long Haul flights with babies.......

We shouldn't have to deal with it though, its your problem not ours.

Why should we pay hundreds of pounds then suffer for the whole 8 hours?

maybe pay for your own jet, its like any form of transport, bus, train theres gonna be kids so STFU and deal with it

noise-canceling headphones????

Those work best with regular background noise patterns such as engine noise. A crying baby has a constantly varying noise pattern with varying levels of amplitude so it isn't completely effective.

However, drowning out the noise, as opposed to cancelling it, would work very well against a baby anyway.

I took my daughter to Florida when she was 7 months old and it was fine. On the way out we had a sky cot that sat on the table by the bulk head. On the flight back we just had an empty seat next to us. She slept going both ways. Can take a little longer getting through security with a buggy and extra baby bits but the actual flight was fine.

I've also taken her to Majorca at 1 1/2 and Egypt at 2 and it was fine on both these occasions although on the Egypt flight she slapped the bald guy in front on the head much to my amusement :p

babies crying are the worst, im not bothered by it (headphones) but I feel sorry for those that havent quite caught up with tech and are forced to listen to the screaming kid.

imo it shouldnt be allowed its far to young to subject a baby the pressures both physically and mentally of flying.

This is exactly what we are on about..

Wow, you took a 7 month old baby on a flight to Florida just so you could enjoy your holiday, that's insane that people like you who just cant wait.

Its just selfish really dragging children who are not even 1 year old on these long flights just so YOU can enjoy a holiday.

Normally I'd be dead against it, but...

Last month I did Heathrow to Vancouver with British Airways in First Class. A couple with a baby walked and were show to the row in-front of me. Call me a bad person, but I have to admit that when I saw the baby I did think "Oh no, there goes my sleep". But actually it was very well behaved. Was with the parents for a bit, and then just slept like a baby in the cot.
Good job though, as if it had been screaming down the First Class cabin for nine hours they'd have had a few unhappy customers!

Your either brave or crazy, I did a 4hr flight with a 1 year old and it was hell you can guarantee that it will be the day the baby decides to have a bad day.

Toddlers are acceptable but I can't see why a 6/12 month old baby should need to be jetted across the globe, give the poor thing a break and at least let it get a couple of years under its belt before you start exposing it to anything as hideous as airline travel! Poor passangers? Poor babies more like!

Yes I agree, how dare he go on Holiday with a one year old, shame on him. in fact lets call the selfish Police on him. How dare he inconvienience you and your unselfish ways :D

..

could someone also ban the person who said kill it with fire as i find it deeply disturbing..

Yes, and report them to the police!

Kill it with napalm

Or just buy proper headphones that seal well without all this noise cancelling pish.

From my experience long haul isn't too bad. With the noise of the plane plus noise cancelling head phones the sound is generally drowned out some what. In long haul a great deal of people are asleep for a large part of the flight as well (unless you're in poverty class). The shorter flights are worse.

I have long felt that there should be flights catering only for babies and small children and those who do not holding a certificate indicating their bog visits are at least at 3 hour intervals - leaving the rest of us to luxuriate- possibly renew our subscription to the Mile High Club if circumstances permit- in other word Chill

A 6 month old will be fine. They only cry when theyre hungry or need a nappy changed! You need to worry when they start getting fed up being sat down for too long.

I thought babies were notoriousley difficult on flights because of the issues with pressure. Babies get painful ears which makes them cry & they have no understanding of how to clear them. Plus if they have wind it doesn't help either.

Worse than babies are alcohol fuelled northern muppets, I would much rather have some screaming brat then them idiots.

But yea dont take a baby on a flight to oz thats just retarded.
