*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

My phone's 1 watt micro usb charger works at half speed.

The N7 2W charges my phone quicker but I wonder if it may damage my phone's battery?

The 2amp charger plugged into your phone won't make it charge faster but you will notice it get warmer than usual than charging with your 1amp one.

I've tried to run the WugFresh Nexus Root Toolkit to get my tablet unlocked. But to no avail. Followed the instructions and it gets stuck on recognising the device being connected via USB Debugging.

I've used the front port, the back port. Removed the USB drivers associated with Nexus and other Google devices as mentioned, but nothing.

I will just leave it as it is and not bother giving myself a headache.

Not true

The phone will only take the current it's designed to take

Well then you should have just quoted that part rather than make me think you disagreed with the entire post :)

Anyway, years ago I put a 1amp charger into a phone that only came with 0.5amp charger and that definitely got warmer during charge. A quick search online to make sure I hadn't knackered the phone, or at the very least the battery, showed that other people were experiencing similar symptoms. The phone/battery was not affected but the extra heat, they mentioned, was from the resistance against the higher incoming amperage. That sounded like a reasonable explanation to me at the time and I left it at that without further digging.

The phone should only draw the amps it needs, no extra - can be confirmed using a power meter.

My post, on the previous page, has been misread again

I said it would not charge faster and my post you quoted wasn't me saying otherwise. I was explaining one of my previous phones simply heating up a bit more than usual when charging with a higher amp charger. The heat was, as suspected by others, heat from the resistance (hence no faster charging) against the higher incoming amperage. At no stage did I say that heat = faster charging.

Don't know if it's already been mentioned but language needs to be set to English (US) in Google Now to enable the Google hotword feature in the settings menu.

I finally took the plunge, can anyone recommend some games for this device from the play store that really shows off this device?

Also, when the device is fully charged, does the little icon remain the same in the top right-hand corner?

Well, ordered from Tesco. Should be available to collect on Friday afternoon according to my email.

I'm looking forward to it :D
