It isn't about the money. It is about the principle.

Sheikh Mansour was taken for a ride by Hughes and co. He was led on by so called football experts. For a businessman of his stature i guess this was rather embarrassing.

Now we are trying to make amends for it. Khaldoon said we could have got rid of Tevez in Jan to AC for a low fee but we proved a point by keeping him and he came back and helped win the title. We will do the same with Adebayor.

We do "have money to burn" so why not keep him for two years and get some respect back. Rather than paying him to leave and be seen as a free ride in the future. He has given us no respect by demanding these pay offs so we wont give him any.

It is thought he was one of the moles who regularly gave stories of bust ups etc to the press as well.

you've got money to burn, there's no point being stubborn over what is (to your owner) spare change. i'm not even sure if i want him anymore but one things for sure, he has no place at city and the feeling is mutual.

Don't see what he's complaining about, City are getting a highly paid player off their books which is very important for them at the moment. Adebayor is the ultimate mercenary and he won't care if he sits on the bench all season for City getting paid £170,000 a week. He would prefer to be playing I'm sure but when it comes down to it, he has City over a barrel.

He doesn't have us over any barrel. His fee and wages aren't taken into account for FFP so the finances are not the point.

We can do whatever we want with him. No doubt if he doesn't leave he will stop coming to training so we will keep fining him until he returns.

As i said earlier this isn't a matter of finances. I think Sheikh Mansour would rather keep him to prove a point then lose him on a free effectively.

i personally think he'll look a tad silly if he keeps him as opposed to getting rid. he was 'old, new city' along with the likes of bellamy, jo, cruz etc take the hit. no one will remember it within a fortnight. people will remember seeing adebayor training with the b team or sat on the bench for £170k p/w all season though.

what point would he be proving? city don't like adebayor, adebayor doesn't like city, he's poison for the club. you have far better strikers.

No more embarrassing than you claiming him to be a businessman.

If what cm posted is true, City will be topping up his wages and he wants the £4-5m transfer fee on top of that. If true then that's a **** take and for the sake of them being a couple of million better off, I'd stick him in the reserves and make him rot.

What?

What's embarrassing about it? Look him up.

He was signed before 2010 and I am 99% sure the wages and fee aren't taken into account by FFP. Which only started monitoring after and only these next few years they get properly scrutinized. The rules are a sham anyway so it's pointless mentioning it.

In UAE the news is Omar Abdulrahman Is joining us for a 2 week trial. Looked good in the games i saw and a UAE player would be great for the club.

I hope you can see the difference.

I see the difference but that relates to Carrick how? Busquets doesn't have to play the creator because he has Xavi and Iniesta fair enough but Carrick not having those doesn't suddenly mean he should to pick up that mantle. He does what he's asked and does what he's asked very well.

I hope you can see the difference.

What is there to look up? It's state money that other people invest on his and the states behalf.

And regarding FFB, unfortunately it's not that simple. Transfer fees of players bought before 2010 are taken into account as will their wages unless (this only applies to their wages) the club can prove that the only reason they've breached UEFA's FFP regulations is because of contracts given out before the end of the 09/10 season and that they are actively trying to meet the regulations. Basically had City not been spending hundreds of millions on transfers and handing out huge contracts since that date they could argue that signings before that date were the sole reason for them not meeting the FFP threshold.

He has personal investments as well. He bought us with his own money for example.

Well I was just going with what is being said on the city forums. A guy on there knows a lot about FFP so I just went with it.

We've been over this before Biz, where did he get his money from to buy City? I can't remember if it was a paper round or a Saturday job at Woolworths.

Well his dad was ruler of Abu Dhabi.

Regardless of where he got the money from he has made a lot of money for himself and Abu Dhabi.
Just because he was born into power and money it doesn't mean he can't be a good businessman.

Wasn't that difficult what on earth are you talking about.

Of course he has. You know nothing about how he conducts his business matters. If you want to think he has no idea then do. Anyway this is nothing to do with transfers.

However, how anyone can possibly think what we are doing is wrong is beyond me re Adebayor.

It's safe to assume that, expert business advisors telling you how to invest several hundred million pounds (phenomenal amounts of money that don't really run out) will end up with you making more money than a regular person building a business, or investing smaller amounts of money.

Surely you can see this.

It doesn't, but you would never call someone who inherited wealth, oil based wealth at that a good businessman without knowing enough to back it up. I could be very very very rich if I sat on my arse all day and ate cheetos as long as I was part of the royal family in an oil rich country.

What you are failing to grasp is that Adebayor couldn't care less what happens as long as he gets paid a very fat salary. You won't be punishing him by making him train with the reserves for the rest of his contract. He will cash his cheque with a smile on his face and probably a fat belly.

Sheikh Mansour does not make any meaningful business decisions. His name might be associated with various companies but he does **** all. If you believe otherwise then you're either incredibly naive or deluded.

Is this the business thread or transfer thread?!?

Anyway...

Good news about Arsenal looking to have nearly picked up another player. Shame RVP isnt convinced and decides to stay, would be a very good side if we kept everyone and added three players.

Sahin to Liverpool? I'm just speculating but there's quotes from Rodgers saying that we've inquired about a couple of quality players from abroad that might be available on loan. He's close with Mourinho too so who knows.
