ohh cmon, he is 17 for god sake, and he chose to do it, and who better to do it than his mum, if she didnt do it, he would have sloped off to some back street cowboy and got hep c.

He posted on facebook on wednesday asking "what tat should I get on Fri". I think its a spur of the moment decision because his mum has just got a job at a tattoo place.
My argument is that he's 18 in 3 months. He should have been advised to pick one and see if he still liked it in 3 months.

Indeed he should have taken more time to choose. I've had a tattoo in mind for a year now. I like it, And the only reason I havent done it yet, is because I need to know I'll still like it in years to come. I'm thinking of getting it in September. But thats after a lot of contemplation on the design

the novelty might of worn off? if it wasn't an impulse thing then meh, not harm waiting 3 months.
Er maybe he wont like the Tat in 3 months. He's very finicky. Changes his group of friends every 12 months

if she's only just learned it'll probably be really bad quality, maybe you can be there to pay for it to be removed when he gets sick of it?
But there is no difference in maturity between being 17 3/4 than 18.
If he thinks it's a brilliant idea now he still will when he's 18.

What changes, hes 18 and responsible (in the eyes of the law) to make his own mistakes etc. At 17 hes under the care of his mother and she really shouldn't of (I might add illegally) tattooed her own son.

never do anything rash and silly at 17? if he regrets it, he regrets it, but it's a tattoo from his mum so it'll always have meaning.
Take a chill pill about it and just accept that there are a lot of things he could be doing that I would be more upset about, like drugs.
If you really want to make a point about it, wait until he shows you, and instead of blowing your lid, simply say that it "reminds me of.." or "looks like ..." and say something really girly or odd
