Hi There,
I've recently purchased a Kingston HyperX 3K SSD 120GB and I've been facing freezing issues. When it happens my whole system will freeze for either 20s-1min. Is this a well known issue? Ive heard that this is because of the Sandforce controller.

any firmware updates for that drive? using latest motherboard bios?

what sata ports are you using? intel or marvel?

No firmware updates for the 3K drive and using the latest BIOS.
No idea what SATA ports im using. Old, crusty Dell XPS 630i. In the midst of building a new comp.

itll be the intel sata2 then, only other thing i can think of is to back up your data and do a secure erase and reload your data back onto it,secure erase will wipe the drive as it is out of the factory,it deletes data without writing to it unlike a normal format

you can use parted magic to secure erase it

Is secure erasing completely different to reinstalling the OS?

id choose the samsung or crucial, agility uses cheap nand memory

did you run windows experience index to enable trim support? (windows 7) it could just be bogged down by garbage, can try logging off user account and let it sit overnight so trim maintains the drive or just do a secure erase

could be just poor motherboard bios support also, esp if its oldish pc

Apparently the Agility is hit or miss. Samsung is a bit over my budget.
Yep, I've ran Windows Experience Index.

Guys, I just got the most ******** response from the so called "technical help" team. I am admittedly running the SSD on a SATA-II board with no ACHl support. Their response was that my desktop simply doesn't support an SSD. WTF? Running it in IDE mode is perfectly fine isn't it? TRIM is of no use to me and I forgot the other option but I'm pretty sure that was useless to me as well.
Please tell me that that person was wrong.

ide is ok,you have garbage collection just not trim, hence you might need to secure erase it every 3 to 6 months to restore performance thats all,if its working in ide mode then itll be ok

For anyone who has this problem, I now know what the problem is. If anyone is running a mobo with the NVIDIA chipset, this is the problem. Completely chipset based. Got in a Z77 Sabertooth and the SSD runs flawless
