I'm pretty sure Jess will get the sportsman of the year over Wiggins. The TV coverage tonight is pretty much all about her, more than any of the others, and she's an athlete who won a medal through multiple events.

Agreed. Wiggins Won the Tour, and an Olympic Gold medal, and now has more medals than any other GB athlete ever.

Jess will be in the winning Team of the year however (Team GB)

If I were her, I'd probably withdraw from the hurdles, better to leave the olympics with the memory of tonight, rather than possibly tarnish it with a disapppointing run

I wonder how fast these long jumpers run.

From the video, it looks like he is in the air for roughly 1 second and travels just over 8 metres.
That gives a take off speed of around 17mph.

What did Boris actually do? Was it on bbc one?

He was the one that pushed for and got funding for the olympics I think. His actual intention wasn't so much because of the games but because he wanted to get the east end of london renewed.
