just wondering if its worth installing the sata 6 kit into my 800D.

mines still using the old style, but id heard that there had been problems with people loosing the drives etc on the new connector.

so just wondering how many of you guys have had issues, if there is too many problems it can go in the bin.

is it just for the hdd/ssd bays? i mean hot swappable? according to the site you still need sata3 controller on your motherboard

is there one already installed in your case but sata2? ifso your best just plugging the sata cables into the sata3 headers

tbh , for my boot ssd , i do just directly connect to the sata 3 header on the motherboard .
i was looking to upgrade my storage hdds to sata 3 though.
there is 2 options , that is to upgrade to this backplane , or remove the entire backplanes altogether and plug directly into the storage drives.
the latter option would then make them un- hotswappable.

like i said really, i was just wondering if anyone else had had any problems upgrading to the new backplane.

if you want it so you can just pull out and plug in your hdd's then yh id install it if not then theres no need, ive used a case where it had how swappable drive bays and it works fine, dont know on that case though but cant see why it wouldnt

also makesure you have the hot swappable option in your bios

it already sees when i insert a drive and remove it so i imagine the bios is already setup.

tomorrow im expecting a delivery of a shiny brand new AX 750 psu , so i was planning on changing the backplane at the same time.

i know all the hardware supports the backplane, but on reading the corsair forums, there does seem a few people having problems becouse of it.

hopefully, a few peeps who have already changed over on here will post up and let me know whether to bother or not before tomorrow .

just to update, changed the backplane over and its working for now ( will have to see if it looses the drives over time as reported by some users.)
...ill hang on to the sata 2 backplane just in case :D
