Which of our best players have been sold and replaced with mediocre players?

All you seem to do is moan. All last season you were whining about Dalglish but also bitched and moaned about not being able to get tickets for Cup finals. When he was sacked you bitched and moaned about his replacement and now you're moaning about every single transfer rumour that comes about. It might not be so bad if there was any logic behind your reasons for complaining.

Surely you can see the sense in possibly letting go a player that spends as much time on the treatment table as he does on the pitch if we get a big fee?

Torres, Masch, Alonso.

I see Carroll, Downing Henderson Cole and previously Poulsen and Koncheskey.

I'd say Aquilani was better then those, maybe not Carroll if he keeps up form.

Then Dalglish got a lot wrong last year, RM was being touted our replacement which is even more retarded and in the end I said I was happy with Rodgers ????

So yes we've downgraded substantially in the past few years and the fact Chelsea got more tickets than us and mysteriously we didn't get extras like them and after paying so much all year to travel to the games I have every right to bitch

Agger wasn't injured that much last year was he?

Looks like Michael Kightly is off to Stoke for £3m, such a shame

He looked quite decent last season (a lot better than Jarvis), shame for Wolves they couldn't hang onto him, exactly the type of player Wolves could have done with in the Championship

I haven't seen a single thing about De Rossi anywhere, where are you getting this from?

It was in the mail (via bbc rumours for me) a couple of days ago iirc.

Its on the metro website today also. It is only as random as the plethora of other football rumours over the summer.

Well it has been mentioned on the city forums as well as football italia, foxsports, daily mail the usual places everyone else reads about transfers.

No one is saying we are going to sign him just that Mancini wants him and a deal is a possibility.

I can see his point, Alonso,Masch,Torres,Arbloa, we havent replaced any of them with any one who has been equally as good but just more bought more players of average ability.

I half agree with Agger injury situation but he made 34 apparances last season so thats an improvement and if he is injured again we should bring Coates in for games he misses least then it wont be as bad as bringing Carragher back into defence.

Rumours of Cardiff being closer to landing Bellamy too and we might let it happen for nothing, Seriously this window is poor we let Kuyt and Maxi go for nothing effectivly as imo both could and should have fetched a maximuim of 5M, Yet only brought one player in and season kicks off within 2 weeks :/

Alonso, Mascherano and Arbeloa were sold under the old regime, the current board and manager can't be held accountable for them. And given how Torres has fallen from grace, even with Carroll flopping, it's difficult to say that we're not better off from the Carroll/Suarez-Torres deals.

As for Kuyt & Maxi. We could have possibly got a couple of million more for Kuyt but he had a clause in his contract (thanks to Comolli) that allowed him to leave for £1m so once he decided he was off, there was nothing we could do. Rodgers admitted he wanted Maxi to stay but Maxi was set on moving back to Argentina and because of his wages the club weren't going to stand in his way (his wages being the reason why we'd never have received a fee for him too).

We'll wait and see what happens with Bellamy. Supposedly like Maxi, Rodgers wants him to stay but he wants to move back to Cardiff for family reasons and like Maxi again, I doubt the club would put up a huge fight to keep him if he's on £80k per week as rumoured.

Like with the Bellamy situation, just wait and see how things pan out as a whole before all the whining. If we sell Agger, Bellamy and whoever else and don't reinvest the money back into the squad then moan about cutting costs as much as you like. Right now though, our wage bill has probably only been cut by ~£5-7m per year and we've spent (net) £10m (possibly as much as £25m if the Allen deal has already been tied up).

No one is saying we are going to sign him just that Mancini wants him and a deal is a possibility.

tbf mancini has wanted him since he got there and as far as i can see he's dyed in the wool roma, a la totti and despite his quality won't be going anywhere. I suppose though anything can happen in football /cliche

IIRC De Rossi has a clause allowing him to leave if Roma don't get CL which they didn't.
If he had no intention of leaving he wouldn't have that clause imo.

I am clutching at straws here but I jist really hope we sign him

Torres, Masch, Alonso.

I see Carroll, Downing Henderson Cole and previously Poulsen and Koncheskey.....

So you're comparing transfers under 2 different owners and 3 different ex-managers as justification for your complaints about this summer under Rodgers? Why not complain about Barnes not being replaced too while you're at it.

What happened in the past is in the past. Since the new owners came in, all money that the club has raised (plus more) has been reinvested into the squad. There's no reason to moan about them and signings made by previous managers isn't a reason to moan about Rodgers either. Unless the owners stop Rodgers from spending what he raises and/or until Rodgers makes poor transfer decisions, then I'm not sure what you have to moan about.

And Agger played 33 of approximately 50 games we had last season.

Not sure where I've complained about Rodgers but okay?

Selling Agger for the touted price is a poor decision if it happens, doesn't matter who made it. And that is a decent number and improving record, also the random rib break didn't help.

And why not complain about recent poor decisions, seems like they're going to cripple us for years

i really hope something comes of this. we're really cutting it fine with a fresh attacking setup.

Internacional president Giovanni Luigi has confirmed that only Tottenham have made a formal bid of around £11million for star striker Leandro Damiao.

The 23-year-old is currently on international duty with Brazil at the 2012 London Olympics, and is set to feature for coach Mano Menezes' side in tomorrow's semi-final clash against South Korea at Old Trafford.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is looking to improve his attacking options at White Hart Lane, after a permanent move for Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor stalled.

But, the Portuguese tactician will have to wait until the conclusion of this summer's tournament before pressing ahead with Tottenham's proposed Damiao deal.

Vice-president Luciano Davi, recently told Terra that bids for the player were forthcoming, saying: "There will be offers for Leandro Damiao, no doubt about that. He has already rejected offers in the last few years."

Meanwhile, Luigi defended the sale of another young starlet Oscar to Chelsea, who completed a £25million move to Stamford Bridge prior to the Olympics, stating that that situation was entirely different.

"It was a very good price. The risk of the price sliding rather than rising was greater [after the tournament]."

So if you're not complaining about Rodgers or the owners, you're just complaining for the sake of it.

What's the point of complaining about decisions made by previous managers, owners or board members? None of it has any relevance to whats happening now. You just enjoy complaining.

As for Agger you can't just call it a random injury because he picks up these random injuries too often. He was out twice last season because of random rib breaks.

Sounds like Modric isn't going anywhere either this transfer window. At some point people are going to getting a little annoyed at Tottenhams transfer policy. They want to pay peanuts for good players but when it comes to selling, they bend the prospective buyer over their knee.

Redknapp has said that Modric was promised that he could leave for RM this transfer window and yet everything I have heard points to Spurs being unwilling to listen to offers unless they meet the £40m valuation.

How the **** is it not relevant? It is the exact reason we've been continually getting worse and doing ****?
I enjoy watching my team win, I complain to vent my frustration, pretty standard human behaviour.

i couldn't care if other teams get annoyed buy our policy or not. levy has valued modric, modric has 4 yrs left on his contract, levy has stated that if the valuation is met, he can go. i don't see what people expect nor why they would have a problem with this?

levy can be his own worst enemy at times but his priority is to be careful with the finances and i respect him for this.

spurs have an affiliation with internacional and we got sandro from them but missed out on oscar.

When you start promising players that they can leave and then backtrack on that, you can run into problems. Redknapp said that he would be allowed to leave for Madrid this year if they came in for him. I doubt Modric would have accepted that if he was told that they wouldn't accept less than £40m.

Seems like Levy manipulates and lies to get what he wants which will eventually come round and bite him.

...At some point people are going to getting a little annoyed at Tottenhams transfer policy...

...Modric was promised...

Wasn't the claim last summer that Modric had a gentleman's agreement and Levy reneged? Levy, for all his good financial management now looks like an unreasonable and unrealistic ****.

How much is this going to hurt Spurs long term? they're not Real Madrid or Manchester United, inevitably the best players will want to move on when they progress. Will the next potentially top tier player(s) be willing to consider spending 3-5 years developing at Spurs before moving on? Will potential signings fear being trapped when the big opportunity comes?

i don't see how you can think this. modric wasn't a record signing and was unproven. it could've gone either way. we paid a fair sum for him and this was based on potential but was still a risk. are you saying good players wont sign for us because we wont let them leave? nobody held a gun to modric's head when he signed a contract extension and you may have forgotten bale signed an extension a month ago too.

we've made 2 good signings this window so it doesn't seem to be hurting us.
