It's better than 3D.

IMAX > Normal > 3D (Red's Epic camera yet to pass judgement til the hobbit).

3D is a stupid fad that will hopefully phase out. IMAX is by far the best format to date.

I have a feeling that will get phased out. Unless directors specifically shoot a movie in 3D (after all Jim Cameron kicked it all off). But for other movies not shot in 3D and then later converted should really be watched in 2D.

Interestingly, when Captain America was released last year, it was more in 3D than 2D. Muggins here went to see it in 2D and it was the first movie that was released in both formats where I chose to see it in 2D and not 3D. Probably a damn good choice as well.

Of course, what we have in Metrocentre, Gateshead is digital IMAX which takes away the proper IMAX experience. But it doesn't bother me cos for me it's still a huge screen and I still enjoy my movies whether they be in real IMAX or not.

I had the misfortune of seeing Battlefield Earth in LA in May 2000 the day it came out before any reviews. One of the worst films ever and they were whooping and cheering throughout occaisionally breaking into chants of "USA USA USA!" and even when this piece of turd ended they all got up cheered and applauded etc. A living hell.

As much as I loved the original movie with Christopher Reeve, this has the potential to be the greatest Superman movie ever made. I hope they don't screw it up!

I can't wait to see the new trailer in IMAX.:cool:

It's an origins film ala Batman Begins, what else would they do?

This is a reboot from the originals and therefore an origin film. The entirety of the film will be about him accepting who he is and coming to terms with his duty as 'earth's mightiest hero'.

Just saying it's closer to the comics, but it looks like they use a suit to achieve it. But it's no different to any other special effects like flying, so no big deal. Also, interesting chainmail look they went for, I wonder if they will show how he made that, or if they will skip over it like with Spiderman.
 
Unless you went after a body builder who can't act, you ain't going to get the physique of Superman that is sometimes drawn in the comics.

Henry Cavill, by the looks of what has been shown so far is a spot on representation of Superman physically, how his Clark Kent will come across is yet to be seen.

I'm very pleased with how it all looks so far and is the film I'm most looking forward too next year along with Star Trek.

We have had a pretty extensive look at him in the costume on plenty of occasions.

Yep, he looks the best since Christopher Reeve. And as much as I loved the Christopher Reeve movie as a child, Henry Cavill looks every bit as good as Superman, maybe better!
