Yeah mate, I was around Zurvan for quite a bit last night when I wasn't crashing to desktop ;)

Are you on TR?

When Zurvan changed hands a couple of times, the holding faction were pinned back in their spawn room, when the facility fell it was basically a last stand as the attacking faction zerged. I experienced it from both sides, attacking and defending, and it was pretty awesome.

Im way out of touch with tech specs these days but how much worse is my graphics card off off a nVidia GeForce 8600 series or higher / AMD or ATI 4850 series and then a nVidia GeForce 500 series or higher / AMD HD 6870 or higher

8000 / 4000 series are very old, 2-3+ years old.

Mobility chips are slower than their desktop equivalents anyway. To quote a well known laptop review site:

The ATI Mobilty Radon HD 4670 from AMD is a DirectX 10.1 middle-class notebook graphics adapter. Technically it is a higher clocked Mobility Radeon HD 4650. The 4670 was later renamed to Mobility Radeon HD 565v and succeeded by the Mobility Radeon HD 5650 (DX 11 Support and a higher shader count but lower clocked).

The gaming performance of the GPU lies between the desktop HD 4650 and 4670. Therefore, most DirectX 9 games (like Call of Duty 4, F.E.A.R., or Unreal Tournament 3) should be playable in high details (in 1024x768). Demanding DX10 games from 2008 like Crysis run only in medium details fluently. Compared to Nvidia graphics cards, the performance should be on par with a GeForce GT 335M (lower synthetic scores but equal gaming performance).

You would need to run PS2 in a low resolution with everything on minimum to get even close to playable frames I think.

The 4670 Mobility can play Battlefield Bad Company 2 in 1024x768 with all settings at low at 56FPS. I'm not sure how demanding PS2 is graphically but you will want motion blur, SBAO/HBAO, depth of field and any other post effects off. Things like shadows will also kill performance.

Disable Windows Aero and Desktop composition also while playing to claw back some VRAM.

Right click the game executable and select 'Properties' > 'Compatibility' tab

Tick 'Disable desktop composition' and 'Disable visual themes'

When the game launches it will disable Aero and it's effects, once the game shuts down it should revert.

But how do I download the client ?

I think I mite have to wait still even if my account is active ?

Haven't had this feeling in a long time, I'm at work and literally counting down the hours because I can't wait to get back home and play. Anyone know what time the EU server comes online? Rolling in a column of 15 NC lightning/van guards last night was a feeling I'll never forget.

Hopefully that column ended up in flames :p ;) However I know what you mean, its awesome seeing loads of troops flanking, with vehicles rolling out together.. air coming in over the top, Engineers pitched up with their turrets lol... Mechs thumping around.

I think its 2pm UK time.... so not long. Im hoping they have tweaked a couple of bits to stop the crashing and spawn tube suicides.

Its what makes this game, its that feeling of epic-ness at times :D

Well I updated to 12.7 beta drivers and it's hovering around 40 - 50fps on high settings, gpu usage is still low. You will get occasions where the fps is extremely smooth then may chug at like 10fps, but when that happens people in the chat begin to complain so it could be a server side thing. Im actually quite confident that once optimised, the 5850 will suffice!

Remember guys, if you are having issues, don't just post about them here, get onto the official forum and post about them! The idea of a beta isn't just so you can play the game earlier than other people, its so Sony can find these issues and fix them before the game is actually released, otherwise the issues will stay in the game, it'll get released, and people won't play it because of the problems.

So, get to it! :p
