** Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition OcUK Online Thread **

hi again, have installed the game but I can't get to play, it just loops to the welcome videos and the last segment will be 2 opponents playing, after that it goes to the beginning videos no matter what I press... thanks

problem solved, I downloaded my microsoft X4's driver from microsoft and it works now.

I also can't beleive I can play this game with my small pc with GT520. Ran the benchmark and I get a minimum 35 fps.

Not really happy with using keyboard so I ordered the xbox controller.

Adjust the resolution, whatever it may be to something suitable, or the other graphics settings if needed and then you should be able to get the game at a constant 60fps, which is practically mandatory for this game. Otherwise it will be a hindrance to yourself and especially anyone you may play against online i.e. it will be a lagging stutter fest.

Even then considering that the original arcade version runs on the Taito Type X2 board which has these GPUs; ATI RADEON (x1600Pro, x1300LE) or NVIDIA GeForce (7900GS, 7600GS, 7300GS), the GT520 even as a low budget card is still many years and generations ahead.

It's not. The 360 has much better players.

Wrong, I said average skill level, not that the PC has better high level players, yeah all the best play on 360, but on average you'll meet about 7 **** players on 360 and 1 pro and 2 decent players out of every 10. On PC it's more like 5/3/2.

Average doesn't = all. It's just most people on the 360 are complete scrublord ken mashers. Skill ceilings are the same, with more people playing spiderman on the roof on the 360, but many, many more people lying on the floor having a stroke aswell, whereas most PC players online are standing comfortably trying to work their way up.

^if you play on 360, get used to that.

Anyone know any complete beginner guides? Like, never played a street fighter since I was 10 years old level guide? I don't even know what the symbols for each button means in the move list lol.

Surely the person playing only needs to do the move that works for him? If he wins its a win ;)

Although i do get sick of people spamming the Juri - Senpusha (Pinwheel Kick) move. :/

You'd assume, now that it's a few years old and has a very steep online learning curve, that those still playing online would be the more grown up and more 'serious' players.
Right??

I've been playing for a few days now after a long time off. I'm the first to admit that I'm not good.
I play an average Abel, a poor Guile and a worse Blanka. Used to play average shoto's (well, Ryu and Gouken) but not touched them in years.

So I'd expect to get my **** handed to me, but I appear to win at least 2/3 with Abel and probably 50/50 with my fledgling charge characters.

Anyway, my point is, I've started getting really angry messages from kids when I win!! It didn't used to happen when the game was more popular, so why now??

What's weirder, is that I only get them when I win, and they all moan on about me being a noob and sucking at the game?! Fair point maybe, but if I just beat you, why bring attention to my lack of skill? If I suck, and I still beat you, then you suck!!

So, as there aren't enough players on these forums to get any tourneys going on PC, does anyone know of any good online UK communities where I can get involved in tourneys and regular friendlies?
I don't expect to get much better, but I still want to learn more and it's always fun to get involved in tournies etc...
