And giving fans his shirt, although his name was sang a lot. Disgusting if FSG sell one of our best and he wants to stay.

Wonder when we're getting stadium improved or a new one

If he wants to stay, they can hardly force him out :o. He may not force a move, but if Liverpool accept an offer from Citeh, then they offer to triple his wages, he's not going to say no... realistically speaking.

Didn't realise you had spoken to agger on the matter

Manchester United chief executive David Gill steps in to oversee move for Arsenal captain Robin van Persie

Manchester United remain hopeful that renewed negotiations with Arsenal this weekend, involving Old Trafford chief executive David Gill, will seal a deal for Robin van Persie.

United have been rebuffed with bids of £10million and £15million for the Dutch striker but manager Alex Ferguson has said the club will “just have to persevere” with their attempts to sign the 29 year-old.

Van Persie has told the club that he wants to leave and would prefer to join United rather than Juventus. In his 16 years at the club, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has never sold a player to his rival Ferguson and wants Van Persie, who scored 30 Premier League goals last season, to go abroad if he is to leave rather than join an English rival.

But if Manchester United increase their bid in excess of £20million a deal is likely to be brokered this weekend between Gill, 56, and Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis.

Both are on the English FA’s Professional Game Board and the FA Council. Gill was in London this week to help drum up additional support at an Manchester United investor roadshow hosted by lead adviser Jefferies Group Inc. United kicked off their stock market flotation yesterday before listed on the New York Stock Exchange today.

Arsenal have been unusually busy in the transfer marker this summer, landing Spain winger Santi Cazorla, France striker Olivier Giroud and Germany forward Lukas Podolski, a trio who joined the club for a combined outlay estimated at nearly £40 million. They may be looking to recoup some of that spending by selling van Persie.

Hopefully Gill can sort it out. How easily does Ivan Gazidis tend to cave in? :p

Says the person that claims he knows for certain that Agger wants to stay?

If Agger wants to stay, he will. He has 2 years on his deal so whether Rodgers, the owners or anybody else wants to move him on, they can't.

If the club doesn't want him (by that I mean the Americans wallet) he will probably just go, much like Gerrard considered, also considering Daniel showing up with that on his knuckles and Gerrards comments yes says the person who claims it's obvious he would like to stay, also considering his comments on Torres

Pff, to get around Wenger being a pathetic little girl and trying to screw over a player who has helped him so much, why don't Man Utd just give Juve 20mil for random player X, then loan him back immediately for 5 years, then Juve buy RVP and loan him to Utd, then laugh when Wenger hears the loan move announced a couple days after he thinks he's shipped him off to Juve :p

I'm completely with RVP, I said all summer, you spend 8 years in the EPL trying to get the title, you're leaving to get a title, you want the EPL first and foremost as its the only one he's failed to get while trying. He could go to Real and win La liga, but he'll still have failed for 8 years to win the EPL, that's been his goal for a LONG time and for me would be the first thing I'd want to get, screw Italy, its a crap league anyway and unlikely to be competitive this year. La Liga, maybe, but I'd still be wanting to win the EPL then can always move on to another league.

Surely Wenger can understand that, unfortunately Wenger can't understand why he doesn't think there is a snowballs chance in hell of winning it with Arsenal.

As for Agger, as Baz I think its usually VERY rare for a bid to go in without having talked to the agent to find out if its worthwhile first. Carroll/West Ham is an odd one, realistically I think he just feels if he stays they'll have no choice but to play him with only 3 real strikers on the book, he'd have to be rotated in, he was probably also hoping as a back up that a proper bid from West Ham might spark a bunch of other clubs into making bids.... lol, West Ham is about the highest club he'll get the chance to move to.

For Pool I'm not sure Allen is a bad player, just not really where they are weakest, as far as I can tell you'll likely have lost Bellamy, Maxi and Kuyt, leaving you basically Downing for the wing, Suarez wide left maybe with Borini up top. Sure you need strikers/wingers before you go for central players?

Be a good bit of business if Liverpool can get £20m+ for him. It's never great to sell any of your better players, but sometimes a reality check is needed. You didn't finish as high as 8th because your defence is so good, you finished as low as 8th because your midfield and attack has such vast room for improvement.

Obviously the next step to making it a good deal is just as important, the money has to be spent well. If it is, a significantly stronger midfield/attack is going to help you many times more than a marginally weaker defence will hurt you.

I also don't think gaining Agger will strengthen City too much, but they have a strong enough squad and enough money that they can spend these kind of sums fine tuning the team/squad.

Signing Agger will help us massively, it means we can switch to a 352 as well as have great cover for Kompany and Lescott. Last season we lost points when either of those were injured or suspended. Had we had better cover I think we would have won the title more comfortably.

Maybe if RVP could have kept himself fit for at least a season he may achieved more at Arsenal when they had a better side. He has one injury free season and then has had enough. Brilliant

If the manager wants him, why would he care what the owners want? They're not the ones picking the side and his wages are guaranteed.

I can imagine that the situation is very much like Rodgers claimed the other day - he's not actively looking to leave and the club aren't actively look to sell but if City were to up their offer to a very large amount then the club would consider it (near enough evey club would). The final decision will be made by Rodgers though.

I find the moaning (not just by you) and implications that the owners are only interested in cost cutting moronic. Assuming Allen's move goes through, we'd have spent £25m and brought back in around £4m and cut our wage bill by approximately £6m per year(that includes Bellamy leaving too).

Agger wouldn't be cover for Lescott, he'd be a massive improvement on him.

Not if they've been eyeing up selling Agger or Skertl all along?

Selling Agger is moronic, don't massively weaken our best position.

haha.
What is it with Liverpool fans and them being completely deluded when it comes to their players.

The Sinclair deal is still progressing and I think it will be done soon. Hopefully deals for RSC, Adebayor and Kolo can be done soon also.

Rumors that Inter want NDJ and Juventus want Kolarov. Don't want them to leave but if we can get some good money in then we should take it, especially for NDJ who has 1yr on his contract.

You've got to ask yourself why your club is willing to pay £20m for him, when you're refusing to pay that for the likes of Van Persie if he's only going to be cover.

Agger is far better than Lescott, which admittedly isn't saying much.

Have you got any evidence to suggest that the club are trying to sell either against their or the managers will?

Selling Agger and not reinvesting that money into the side would be bad. If the manager decides he can do better with £x to spend rather than have a certain player, that's the managers decision and we'll judge him based on the success of that decision.

City's defence was pretty damn good last season wasnt it? Lescott answered a lot of his critics. It's not his fault the huge amount City paid for him. He was very consistent along side Kompany.

Yes Gerrards interview out of Daniels hands (he isn't asking for move), it's up to the owners (they are selling regardless if offer is what they want)

He won't be cover, if we are signing him for that price we are going to be changing formation. If in some games we need to change the formation then Agger would be the backup CB.

How do you know we aren't willing to pay 20m for RvP? Until he has signed a contract anything can happen.

He really isn't. I guess its a case of who you support is who you will say is better.
