I've been looking at NAS boxes for the last 6 months or so due to the fact I have 3.5TB of media spread over several disks that I want to centralise and secure (Raid5)

I'd just about decided on a QNAP 5 Bay when I saw the 8 Bay Drobo (DRPR1A31) for roughly the same price, but I can't find any reviews.

Anyone have one? Is Drobo a good choice?

.

Personally I would stick with QNap or Synology. Haven't read much about the newer Drobo's, but people who used the old ones complained of poor performance.

This to be honest. Or a HP Microserver with the cashback offer and a copy of windows home server.

If you do go down the QNAP/SYNOLOGY route I have done some reviews including the DS412+ HERE
