Surely if you're saying that City have done brilliantly by having a player of Tevez's quality to step in then you imply that United don't have that type of striking option and would benefit from bringing in a world class striker? Unless you think rvp is noticeably worse than tevez?

No.

What I am saying is that it's the best thing that could've happened for City.

A few months ago it wasn't looking likely that Tevez would stay at all and that he was certain to leave. For the majority of the season that was the position that people thought, that he would be leaving come the summer/january.

City would then be in the place that each other club was - one main 'world class' striker.

As it stands, they are fortunate/lucky/good/whatever in the way that they have managed to keep hold of Tevez.

Do Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham etc have this? No, most clubs don't.

Do I believe that we should go and spend a massive chunk of money on RvP just because of this? Certainly not for reasons I've already mentioned.

Wolves accepted a bid from Sunderland for Fletcher... £14m ...

Mother of god

Well O'Neil is going to be the first man sacked this season after spending that much...

Oh and Barnsley have signed Harewood on a year long deal http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19254516

Should add pace the front line (though I'm not too sure they will beat the drop this time round)

well done to Moxey! :) rather he stayed, but £14m isnt toooo bad ;) Now, PLEASE put a bid in for Jordan Rhodes or someone please, Stale!

I'd like to see Berbatov given a chance, but that ship has sailed. :(
Berba had three seasons of chances and barely took a handful lol

This is partly true, but RvP is an extremely good player, Welbeck isn't at the moment, and Hernandez will never be a complete striker.

As I said, if Rooney gets injured we'd have to rely on Welbeck and that just won't do. Aguero gets injured? City have Tevez, or maybe even Balotelli if he's on form, he's pretty damn good.

He isnt the only solution, and admittedly we dont know how he will transfer to the EPL, but Kagawa should be a decent scorer as well

I also think people are too hard on Chicharito, admittedly last season wasnt great (even though he had a lot of injuries etc) - still think he will end up better /staying longer than the greedy Welbeck (hasnt proven anything currently to be worth reputed 75k/week)

Rhodes was suposed to be about 7-8m at the start of the summer so you never know :p (plus from what iv seen of Rhodes he could end up being better anyway)

Congratulations on the £14m though! Pretty much has to win this windows "maddest price paid" award

I'm surprised Berbatov hasn't left yet. Can't see why Fergie hasn't got rid of him this summer even if just to save on the wage bill.

Unless its Berba not wanting to agree to less wages (as Fergie has already stated we will let him go for £5m , which is a bargain )

or him being too choosy as to where he wants to go

To those asking, #Wolves have NOT accepted a bid from #Sunderland for Steven Fletcher. Not aware S'land have upped it to £14m either.

Plot thickens :p

Darren Fletcher is on the bench for the Man Utd game tonight (Neil Simpson Benefit Match vs Aberdeen), perhaps he's getting fit again?

Okay. I just thought it would be okay here as people were discussing the Man Utd central midfield not long ago, and it seems that he'll be an option in the not too distant future.

Good point. Berba probably accepts he's leaving but has decided to only leave for a decent club offering decent wages. I wonder if he's got his agent to call City yet? ;)

Lol typical man u arrogance, as wenger says there is no news reagrding van persie because there are no negotiations taking place, also van persie and his agent have said approx. nothing which suggests rvp is not interested in a move there.

Oh dear.

Wenger doesn't want to sell him to Man Utd, so what would you expect him to say? It has nothing to do with arrogance.

Historically, he doesn't say anything about any such transfers (bar denying them) until they're done. It was the same with Nasri.
