Table would suggest they're not miles ahead, though we do have ground to make up no doubt. By any measure you choose City were deserved league winners last season, goals scored, goals conceded, ability to batter teams, beating us well at OT, beating us when it mattered in the run in.

I think us throwing it away after getting into a great position takes some of the shine off how remarkable it was that we managed to get the same number of points as City despite looking ordinary so often. It's not something I'd like to have to bank on happening again.

I can't imagine City signing no significant players by the deadline, up to now they've done nothing but allow others to make up ground on them.
 
Man U were unconvincing for most of last season, an ageing team, out in CL 1st round, battered out of the Europa League. City will be stronger than last season on the basis of experience and gained confidence.

Guillem Balague says that Alex Song to Barca "could be close". I imagine he does really want to join but wouldn't want to say so.

I'm also not sure where he'd fit in at Barca.

Apparently Southampton are going to announce a signing tomorrow with Gaston Ramirez, Carlos Fierro and Yohan Benalouane names banded about.

Any of the 3 = sex wee and all 3 is pretty much unbelievable (otherwise known as the internet going mad). Hope Benalouane turns up just because we need a CB (now desperately), chances of Ramierez just sound hilarious and Fierro is FM gold so probably isn't real.

Mad transfer speculation is fun though! :D (seeing as nothing's happened for weeks since we got Clyne and Davis sorted and we're all a little nervy)
