Table would suggest they're not miles ahead, though we do have ground to make up no doubt. By any measure you choose City were deserved league winners last season, goals scored, goals conceded, ability to batter teams, beating us well at OT, beating us when it mattered in the run in.
I think us throwing it away after getting into a great position takes some of the shine off how remarkable it was that we managed to get the same number of points as City despite looking ordinary so often. It's not something I'd like to have to bank on happening again.
I can't imagine City signing no significant players by the deadline, up to now they've done nothing but allow others to make up ground on them.
