Guild Wars 2

What i5 you got?

I'm running a i5 2500k clocked at 4.4ghz and my frame rates are a-ok.

I'm running a 3.5ghz clocked 720 Black Edition at the mo. Get 50+ fps on high settings when questing, but drops to 10fps in WvWvW regardless of settings. Admittedly I've only had one attempt at pvp so far, so it may just be down to the test build. Will see tomorrow - no improvement = upgrade time!

I really don't see the whole wow vs gw2 thing that a lot of people are pushing. One is sub the other isn't, someone can play both and be no worse off financially than they are now for just playing wow. Some ***** will make comparisons but the games are too different, with different pay models and personally I see no comparison. I left wow because I got bored but this was long before gw2 I personally know 4 people who will be playing both.

Some muppets wil force comparisons and judge one game or the other a success based on this but they really are not relevant. Despite all of that though it is an unsurprisingly cynical move from blizz, we have gave you *$** all for a year but on the release of another game.... HUGE PAAAATCH!!!

Just wanted to point out not of my mini rant is not directed against the link poster, it's just general rant :p

Yeh well I don't buy all the GW2 vs WoW either, in fact I think a lot of WoW subscribers will probably buy GW2 and remain playing WoW at the same time!

However my point was just that it's a pretty obvious bitchy move by Blizzard. :)

Well finally pre-ordered today to get the 3 day head start.

What is strange is that it will be my first time playing it. I have not played a single minute of beta or stress test. Strange feeling going into a game like this completely blind, very unusual for me.

Ah, you must be the voice of reason.

Ofcourse there's a WoW vs GW2. GW was probably one of the only other successful MMOs during WoWs lifetime.

It doesn't mean you have to be one or the other but there's no harm in comparisons.

I wouldn't say it is bitchy, but I would say it is expected. Expansion patches tend to hit 4 weeks prior to launch so it was always going to be around gw2 launch.

I don't think it will really effect GW2. I am a WOW subscriber and I will patch my game, tweak my 2 main's talents and that is it. Then back to GW2:)

Did you pre order or pre purchase? As from what I understand you only get the 3day head start when you pre purchase

How viable would it be to use every spell (except F skills) on a mouse if I opt for something like the naga or the G600?

I'm not much of a strafer (I know, noob). So I'm still trying to juggle WASD (which I rarely use in MMOs, in WoW etc I just move with the mouse only), all the dodging, and strafing.

Was thinking of getting one of these mice, doing all movement with my left hand on the keyboard and using all 10 spells on the mouse buttons.

Anyone else playing like that?

August 28th, 2012—the day Guild Wars 2 launches—is fast approaching. Everyone here at ArenaNet is anxiously counting the days right along with every Guild Wars 2 fan. In just a few weeks, the servers will go live and each of us will be setting out on our adventures in Tyria!

As you may have seen, we host a countdown timer on the front page of our official website. The information below will give you specific details about times and dates based on whether you pre-purchased, pre-ordered, or are picking up a copy of the game on release day.

Pre-Purchase with 3-Day Headstart: Everyone who pre-purchased Guild Wars 2 will enjoy three full days of Headstart Access. The three-day Headstart Access will officially begin at 0:00 AM Pacific time (GMT -7:00) on August 25th. However, please note that in order to ensure that we’re fully prepared for that fateful hour we may bring servers online up to 3 hours prior. If you’re a player committed to getting in first to grab that character name of your dreams you’ll want to be keeping an eye on things during that time period.

Pre-Order with 1-Day Headstart: Those who pre-ordered Guild Wars 2 will be able to participate in one day of Headstart Access. The one-day Headstart Access will begin at 0:00 AM Pacific time (GMT -7:00) on August 27th. NOTE – Pre-Order code registration is now enabled.
For those players who have not pre-purchased or pre-ordered the game, Guild Wars 2 will officially launch at 0:00 AM Pacific time (GMT -7:00) on August 28th.

Download the Client today: If you’ve registered your pre-purchase or pre-order and created your Guild Wars account you can go to account management today and download the client. Be sure to update the client periodically to minimize your download at launch.

We look forward to seeing you in-game very soon!

So severs could be live as much as 10/11 hours before pacific time listed.

I've been playing MMOs over the past 9 or 10 years and always played clicking the action buttons on the bar with the mouse cursor and I've not had a problem. Not tried the Naga so cant comment if that would be any better.

I recently bought a g600 and i think it's great. it took about a week to get used to it but it seems to make things so much simpler.

on the g600 it also has a third button where you ring finger goes that I have bound left ctrl to, then in gw2 i have F1 bound as ctrl+1 etc. The only keys I use are wasd, left shift for dodge and space to jump.
