Guild Wars 2

Did it feel like the standard theme-park MMO to you?

No I play WoW a lot and I will be using this game to fill in the gaps. But what I played I really liked I didnt feel like I was grinding to get to level up.

I like the MMO of tank/healer/dps but also its a different style to keep my busy also its free to play so you dont have to keep playing to get your sub's worth.

But like I said Ive only played up to level 5 or so just to see what the game was like. What I saw I was really impressed.

Yup there is a list of officers on the website they will all be in game and be able to invite, except me NO ONE send Nemeses a tell for guild invite, send them all to dist ..he loves inviting streams of people he told me so, in fact he begged to be the one to invite the first 100 :)

GhostlyPea if you would like you old accout name changed to GhostlyPea I can do this and email you all the details you need to log into that account.

Ah yeah please :D If you can update it that would be excellent :)

Have paid only vague attention to this game, will I enjoy it if I don't have a guild etc? Never played an MMO so would I be able to just wander around solo/meet strangers on the fly?

Failing that, how friendly are the guilds on here to MMO noobs? I've watched The Guild if that helps :p

Early game you should be fine on your own, there are a lot of people and most people will be friendly enough if you ask for help anyway. One of the best things of this game is that you don't need to be in a party or play with friends to play with other people. There are no reasons to do things on your own and not help people, so you should find plenty of help. As for a guild, they help but mostly aren't necessary. If you want to get into PvP or do a lot of dungeons you'd need a guild though. You could probably find a laid back guild who are fine with people new to MMOs to get into the game if you need help too.

It didn't feel like the theme park setup... But... It's no Eve, you have a story to follow and zones to go to but the way the game works the profession feels natural as opposed to forced down a path. Additionally with the flow the grind just seems to disappear. I played an hour, levelled 4 times without looking up or even realising I had levelled because the events were running one to another and I barely had time to catch my breath never mind think "god this is boring"

Really good evolution to the genre and after being initially cynical I am really sold on the game.

It doesn't play much like Wow, in that you are led from quest hub to quest hub. There are the hearts dotted around to guide you but if you follow them exclusively you are missing a trick - they are there for guidance. Lots of content is there for those who like exploring or just pay attention to their surroundings.

Exploration is rewarded.

Definitely gonna give this a try as it looks pretty interesting PvP wise. Think I'm gonna roll Mesmer from the limited amount of research I've done so far.

Anyone know where they've got pre-purchase standard editions in stock for a decent price? There's some on play for £35 but there's no mention of pre-purchase so assume it's just the pre-order and everywhere else seems to be out of stock.

Greenmangaming and use code PCGMR-GREEN-SUMMR which brings the price to £39.96 and its the pre purchase.

Cheers for that, worked a treat. I'd just been on that site but dismissed it when I saw the price, but with a tenner off it's much more acceptable. :D

also if you go on top cashback you get 6.06% (£3.03)cashback from green man gaming ordering it through them and use that code(PCGMR-GREEN-SUMMR) brings it down to £36.93 if you wanna make it cheaper subscribe to netflix (its free) for the trial month (cancel it a few days later or use it for the month then cancel) and you get a £12.02 cashback (this works as i have done it waiting for my £15.15 to become payable so ultuimately knocking off £15.15 off of the puchase price making it £24.85.

hope this helps,every penny counts!hahaha

Lovefilm will spam your phone number and your home address to high hell, it isn't worth it, mate.

Getting calls from Delhi at 5am about internet providings is not worth the £5 saved!
