"Found" footage style movies...

V/H/S looks awesome. Pestilence, are you still working for the same people? Anything you can share or are you waiting to see how good it might be as well?

Yep, still doing the same biz and unfortunately, no, I'm as in the dark as anyone regarding V/H/S but have heard nothing but praise. One of my most anticipated of the fest, really. :)

Rec 3 is now out on bluray, will be watching this soon.

However i've heard it's not a cam style movie, anyone confirm/deny?

Apparently it starts off as a cam style movie but then changes to a normal one. I'll definitely get it even though the trailer doesn't look very good. The other 2 were really good and the 4th looks like it'll also be good.

Wouldn't it be better if you took your negative and limited input to another thread and tried to ruin that one instead? If you don't like these films then that's fine, GTFO.

Have a nice day now :)

Sorry for having an opinion. I feel strongly about movies using shakey camera work because it makes me feel nauseus, as I previously mentioned. And 'Found Footage' is the worst offender.

Are we only allowed to post positive comments in threads nowadays? How about you serve yourself a little of that GTFO.

the undocumented looks good!

Exactly what I thought, but it was complete pants imo. Watched the Poughkeepsie Tapes straight after and thought that was drivel too. It escapes me why anybody would find these the least bit shocking.

Oh well, guess this genre isn't for me.

I quite liked Undocumented, but it didn't totally blow me away. Thought Peter Stormare was exceptionally threatening/menacing in that one.

Check out The Tunnel, which is out on DVD here on August 6th, before you totally write off the genre. While it's more a faux documentary than "found footage" film, it gets really friggin' creepy.

It's out in america, got it on import :)

Gonna watch it right now actually!

Just finished here, and if you enjoyed the first two, you'll undoubtedly dig it.

Takes an absolutely fantastic swipe at the inherent unbelievability of loads of found footage flicks when it makes the switch to "proper" filmmaking that had me laughing out loud.

Decent amount of humour, and the first 2/3rds has the same admirable sense of constant urgency that kept the first two pumping. It sticks to the mythology to a tee, while not really expanding on it which is a little disappointing, but there's enough carnage, shocks and laughs to see it breeze right by you.

In the end, not quite as good as its predecessors, but with Jaumé Balagueró behind [REC] Apocalypse, this is shaping up to become my favourite horror series of all time. Considering the evidence of the two directors' filmographies, Balagueró is by far the more talented fear maker so here's hoping the abundant humour of this one is simply a little break for a truly horrific finale.

EDIT: Put it this way... I thought watching the screener meant I could skip the Frightfest screening and go get some grub (or a much-needed lie in depending on when it's showing!) but naaaah, I'll watch it again. Ought to go down well with the audience.

The first 17mins of REC 3 is very very very very very very BORING!, then you will feel sick with the camera work as for the rest still watching ;)

EDIT : Sorry that was rubbish, especially when he just leaves his mace behind there are so many other stupid bits in the movie

Can someone explain Evidence? I watched it and it seems like 2 films merged together, it starts of ok but the last 1/3 seems as if it was directed by someone else. What was going on at the end?

The whole thing was because the woods they were in was a restricted area next to a secret military installation. They appeared to be experimenting with alien DNA, birthing monsters and infecting people. When the kids arrived, things were just going to pot.

gave up on it too early I guess, dont like that sorta style movies anyhow :D

Troll Hunter is very good, subs but the camera crew seem to ask the questions i would ask as opposed to the usual where something bonkers happens and nobody seems to ask wtf is going on, there isnt any stupidity in it. 8/10
