OP how many months do you mean when you say "a number of months" trying? You do know some people take years of trying?
If ever there was a need for tl;dr this was it.

We'd been trying for about 18 months before we started investigations to see if there was anything wrong. It's now been three years.
Oh ok fair enough. Not to be too graphic, were/are you "counting the days" so as to perform when you think you must, or are you having it at least once a day every day? I think a lot of women deem themselves experts on when they are ovulating, when...well...they aren't. Sometimes it's better to just make sure you have it twice daily for weeks upon end. I know...

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear of your outcome. I can't begin to imagine how I would feel to hear that news.
I'm more than aware that my position is a lot more hopeful than some others in my position, and am truly grateful for it. It is certainly not our intention to give up trying yet, we've both got a lot of fight in us yet!
If you don't mind me asking, do you plan to go into adoption/fostering?
and considering it’s quite unlikely I’ll never give birth....
We have decided to give it a couple of years before taking it further though.

Well I hope this never happens to you both. If that was all you had to say in this thread then you could have just left without saying a word. Obviously writing about it has made the guy feel very slightly better.
