I'm confident you can run an RS6 on a shoe string if you're a mechanic and you have all the tools, diagnostics, ramps and lifts. You've got to be willing to use pattern or used parts as the OEM parts are very expensive.

For a lay person like me who is more at home with a bash script or a set of accounts than a spanner, the newer C6 RS6 with a main dealer warranty is a much better proposition even with the epic depreciation which is why I swapped my C5 RS6 for one.

That said, the C5 RS6 certainly has more charm than the C6. It's hard to quantify but, although the C6 is much quicker the C5 puts a bigger smile on your face.

Also, Fox, the DRC suspension on the C5 is purely mechanical. There are no electronics.

My brother-in-law's neighbour bought a really nice one on a 53 plate with 65K on the clock for £13.5k a month or so back. It was feeling slightly down on power and was found to be in need of a pair of (iirc) EGT sensors. They cost £1k to replace at a local specialist. They are money pits in the strongest sense of the word and I don't think there are any other cars for so little money that have the potential to throw so many epic bills when they go wrong.
 
You'd think RS6 owners would be competent enough to put together a decent ad.

The best bit is when they add 'M5 M3' to the end of the advert. :p

I think anyone who wants an RS and can afford one will go for a newer model. I guess only enthusiasts of that particular car will appreciate it. :D
