:(

So officially, RVP is now a scum bucket....

Bah, he is good no doubt. IF he can stay fit, he is a very good signing.

But the truth is, although he showed flashes of brilliance, over the last 8 years or what ever he was at Arsenal, he is terribly injury prone, and had only ONE full season at Arsenal, which was last season.

And at 29, I think 20 odd million is good business for Arsenal IF reinvested wisely.

Oh, right...

It's ok everyone, it was all just twitter feed, RVP wasn't interested in a move to Man United, Wenger wasn't going to sell, he was going to start this saturday and the one after that and hey if he was going to move anywhere it was to City!

;)

Indeed, that's some of the most laughable stuff I've seen on here. Head in the sand, and then some. :p

i wonder if fergie will play RVP on monday that's if we do actually get him.I am hoping that everton start the season as they always do which means a nice win for us :P

I actually thought his injury record was much worse than it is. I mean, it's not amazing, but it's not THAT bad is it (bar the 2 obvious blips)?

04/05 - 41
05/06 - 38
06/07 - 31
07/08 - 23
08/09 - 44
09/10 - 19
10/11 - 33
11/12 - 48

He tends to have a couple of months a season (apart from last season). The problem is, when he's THE striker at a club, it's noticed much more than it will be noticed for Man U, who will still have Rooney. I hope he does well, I just hope Giroud does better, and turns out to be a footballing god. :p

And only once has he played more than 30 games in a league season. You'll find his biggest is playing week in week out, generally getting small knocks meaning he misses games here and there, it's no coincidence that in his best run of games, he scored the most goals.

Bit harsh from the Mirror... :p

not sure how people can say stuff like that before ball has been kicked this season, i think arsenal have got a good deal and i think arsenal will shock a few people this season

I think, especially with another signing, Arsenal will do at least as well as they did last season, most likely even better.

Giroud is meant to be excellent, Podolski is considered to be an extremely good player and so is Cazorla.

Very true. Perhaps it won't be as big an issue with a little more competition for places up front at Man United.

No disrespect to Arsenal, but they've desperately needed RVP to be fit week in, week out, as their backup .. was...well...not the best.

You're right mate, City champions by some margin, but I think we'll challenge for second, I expect utd to fall further off the pace.

Nah, you aren't going to get 2nd. Comfortable third perhaps, and we'll see about City. Them winning the league is far from a foregone conclusion.

Much of it will depend on how Chelsea do, they have a lot of attacking potential and could be very dangerous. In theory they should edge out Arsenal. Especially as they seem poised to make another signing or two.

With your track history of predictions it can only mean; Utd will be champions by some margin, City challenging for second and Arsenal falling further off the pace.

Yeah despite the disappointment of losing RVP we have strengthened well and hopefully if we are quick maybe another in before the end of the transfer window.

Podolski started well with 2 goals (only friendlies I know) and Giroud I dont know much about other than his youtube videos which reminded me a lot of RVPs style.

Cazorla looks the most exciting of the three though. His passing is great and I can see him being a big hit with the fans. I'm sure DM will draw faults with him lol

All in all looking forward to kick off. Best of luck RVP but not too much!

Nice if Walcott signed up though, he has never quite made it yet.

Why on earth are people already discounting Arsenal?

Anything can happen, Arsene Wenger knows what he's doing - expect a replacement to come in.

£24m for a player with 12 months on his contract, United have been done there.

Not only that. The title race was as close as it could possibly be last season. While City have gained Tevez (sort of), we've gained one of the most prolific strikers in recent history, as well as an extremely good creative midfielder, and got our best defender back from injury.

We've also sold Park, who effectively ruined every game he played in.

Saying that will make us fall further off the pace is wishful thinking in the extreme.
