Same here, came out with a CDE purely down to laziness.
Even with a 2:1 Degree my A levels still hold me back from even being able to apply for some jobs.
Anyway congratulations to all those who got what they wanted/needed :D

that will change soon. so stupid as schools just pick the easiest exam boards. all kids should do the same exams

good luck to any of the whipper snappers and their exams today. last exams i did were almost 20 years ago....

btw - anyone wasting their time on media studies, fine art or drama? :) save yourself some time and get a job at mcdonalds now :)
 
I did slightly better with a BCD - but we cannot compare our A levels to the current standard as it's all chopped and changed several times.

It doesn't hold back on jobs even with a good Engineering degree - however, it did stifle my academic performance as I had to play catch up a lot. :/
 
Bah, ended up with BCC(C) although I should have gotten an A in Business as it was a BTEC and so was all coursework. The work I gave in was marked by the teachers as an A (Distinction) but I got a B (Merit) from the exam board so I don't know what that's all about. I was also only 5 UMS (About 3 marks) off a B in Economics too so I plan on getting those two exams remarked to see if the remark can get me the 1 or 2 marks per paper needed for the B.
 
Was fairly pleased with a B and 2 C's, the U I got in Law didn't please me as much though.. Hopefully with a few retakes and abit more hardwork next year I can get 3 B's and go to a decent Uni.

A-Levels are very important, especially if you're not doing a scientific degree. A lot of people go to uni and drink for 3 years and get a 2:1 in psychology for example, firms want to see a-levels to make sure you've been consistantly good.
 
My Alevel results were RUBBISH.
I got BCD in IT, Maths, Physics.

This was in 2006 though when the fees went up to £3000.
I got accepted to 5 engineering courses at Loughborough and 1 at Nottingham - I didn't get the grades for any of them!

Even more time to worry. Literally have no idea how I've done. Probably should have revised more too not gonna lie. :rolleyes:

Not from my experience...

I needed a 2:1 and 2 C's in Maths and English at GCSE....

That was on top of a brutal application process mind...

The top firms seem to care much more about you getting through their own application process rather than anything else...

A-Level students go before AS in most schools for obvious reasons, such as granting more time to contact unis etc. AS students have no need for this and thus why you get it at 2pm.
 
My school gives out AS at 12 I think. The teachers will just fob you off if they're helping an A2 student with their Uni. They send out letters anyway saying if you need a meeting to discuss your results or you can go back later if you want to discuss the today.

Really? All of the schools in Norfolk(that I know of) are giving out AS and A Level results at the same time however they only offer advice and assistance to A level students on results day.

It varies from location to location and how much hassle the school wants with a couple hundred students turning up demanding grades in the morning, it's entirely up to the school in question if they want to stagger the results to make the day go easier for the staff.

The only real requirement is that A-Level students are prioritised over AS.

thats what I thought but everyone I have spoken to outside of my school got them at 10am

Could depend on type of job or industry but a lot of the ones I've looked at requred a 2:1 and ~280 UCAS points (this varied company to company) to even get your foot in the door.

National rail for example have graduate schemes where you only need a 2:2, but they want 300 UCAS points. Now it's highly unlikely anyone with 300 UCAS points only got a 2:2 lol.

Obviously there are jobs out there that only look at the degree, or as you say, have their own process for separating the wheat from the chaff.

Basically though, what I am saying is that if you want to stand a good chance in 90% of jobs available you need a 2:1, 3 a-levels at grades B or above and >8 GCSEs at grades A-C including maths and english as well as lots of extra-curricular activities and previous work experience.

But tbh, I'm probably just stating the obvious really :p

Ah, yeah, I'll concede that this is probably true...

I think you could get away with like BBC, but yeah, I kind of forget people aren't in that boundary :S
