Wolves today rejected another bid from West Ham for winger Matt Jarvis.
The Hammers’ latest offer is believed to be in the region of a £9.5m package, with £6.5m up front and the rest in add-ons.
That is a £500,000 increase on the bid Wolves rejected from the Londoners last Friday,

Ha! West Ham need to sort it out. Everyone else seemed put off by the asking price for good reason (10m is too much). Good on Wolves demanding the big cash for their players regardless of which league they are in! (though it looks like the Fletcher saga might get called off with Sunderland getting the past it Saha)

Apparently Southampton have bid 6m for Matt Philips from Blackpool! Probably the most realistic right midfielder we could get in and should be more than good enough.

He may not be Keane /viera or even a Scholes, but if Cleverley can stay fit, he is a great additon over last season (excluding the 6 or so matches he played before being injured)

If Utd actually managed to get a much stronger cm - would any other team see anything other than the dust from their heels?

(a lot of people on here were saying it was the worst midfield in years, yet the team still managed to finish with same amount of points as City)

Tevez is a great "addition", as long as they can keep him happy........there surely HAS to be some drama from him this season coming

Will be interesting to see who Mancini pulls out of a hat before the transfer window closes - their 1st team doesnt really need strengthening , but some of the subs could possibly be better

Footballs gone mad, all these players like Matt Jarvis are mediocre at best, only 5-6 years ago I'm sure they wouldn't go for anymore than 2-3M, yet now wolves are rejecting 9.5M, what the hell is going on? Sunderland bidding 14M for Fletcher is just crazy as well, decent player no doubt but at that money it's gone beyond stupid, yet they still reject the offer.

They can reject the offer because they don't need to sell but the clubs offering need to buy :p

It's the beauty of really long contracts, Wolves had to sell Kightly because he had a year left and a couple of million for a player who hasn't been fit for a while is good business. Jarvis has 2-3 years left on his contract (maybe even 4) so they can charge what ever they like and hold stupid clubs to ransom. West Ham (and Sunderland) have the most inept scouting system possible if they only see players released and players in relegated teams as their main targets...

They will buckle and pay up as well just because they don't think their squads are strong enough to stay where they are.

I would have been happy with the 9.5m for Jarvis and 13/14m for Fletch. This would allow us to strengthen the squad, and 2 players who no longer want to be there wouldn't be causing trouble refusing to train (Fletcher).

Money isn't something that is needed right now though, is it? Not with parachute payments, etc.

Jarvis and Fletcher are good Championship players. If they get Wolves back up the pain will have been worth it.

The MUFC announcement today is due about 1pm, it's apparently a commercial thing and not a transfer, however (wasn't sure before).

They better not rename Old Trafford...

Very true, we are financially in a position to spend without it being too much of a problem, but if they are both digging their heels in, is it worth keeping them around, forcing them to play in the hope we get promoted?
We have 5 strikers at the moment, all of them should be more than good enough for the championship, and in pre-season Stale hasn't appeared to be a fan of wingers anyway, so perhaps this is the best time to sell.

I would obviously like to see them stay and actually try and get us promoted first time!

Dorus De Vries to liverpool is the odd one though, we got him free, he played a couple of games and now we are rejecting offers for him! Ikeme is being played ahead of him I think, so he'll likely be on the bench when fit again

Not that it's likely, considering there have been no rumours, but why would you care if they renamed the stadium? I mean, it's not as though they'd be renaming it for the lols, they'd be getting a tonne of money for the club .

Imagine if it was called the DHL Arena, but it got the club £30m/year... would you moan?

The money would be nice, but I just wouldn't like it. I don't think anyone would.

Well, people used to bid x amount, 'cause staying in the Prem, or getting there, was worth $$$$. With the TV deal raking in even more money, that's now worth $$$$$$$$... so it means it's worth spending more on the talent to go after the prize?

You would have thought that with the vast majority of top flight clubs bar a couple exceptions like Arsenal running at a MASSIVE loss that instead of using the extra money on transfers they would use it to pay off the debts and be a little more prudent. Most clubs current debts are hardly serviceable with the current TV money so we will see more Pompeys, and Leeds before long without a doubt.
