Cool so we have established he hasn't had injury problems. So the reason apart from 2011 he scored 18 league goals and last year 30 that all other years he has only got 11 or less is because he's been a bit pap? ;)

Maybe he's just hitting his peak, I'm not so sure. This forum when nuts with formations when United signed Berbatov and look how that turned out. Considering age, form and history it's a good deal for all really. Initially I was angry at another mercenary back tracking but after sleeping on it Arsenal could have sold at the right time as they usually do.

83 - In the past three seasons Louis Saha has featured in 83 PL games (73%), four more than Robin van Persie in that period. Regular.
I'd never have expected that, particularly with Everton's policy in the past season or two of often doing a Spain and playing none up front (until Jelavic came along).

Still, I guess an awful lot of those appearances for Saha's will have been from the bench.

Bob Wilson echoing what the rest of us Gooners have been saying:

"Obviously it is very good business from the Arsenal point of view, their perspective is it is £24m for a 29-year-old who has a history of injury problems and one truly magnificent season in eight. That is great business," said the former Arsenal player.

Article.

Bring in Llorente Arsenal!!

"In addition, United had already freed up the best part of £180,000-a-week in wages following the summer departures of Michael Owen, Park Ji-Sung and Tomasz Kuszczak."

Surely not :/

Wow! Wasn't Owen on about £50k a week? With appearances and goal bonuses boosting his salary. Yeah, I know, when he actually played! :D Would have thought Park was on £70-80k a week so that's £120-130k a week and then another £25-40k a week for PIG?

Even more of Berbatov leaves.
Roughly £90k a week for Berba I've heard? So we could be talking over £250k a week saving on wages if Berba joins Owen, Park and PIG as ex-Utd players!

great photoshopping skills ;)

Van Persie isn't the only player you have or will sign this transfer window to eat into that potential saving. :)

Not like Utd NEED to save wages with the turnover /gate reciepts etc they get:D:D

Of course AW wont be replacing RvP, he just bought two senoir strikers who havent played a competitive game yet (although Im sure he will spend some money on midfield /defence etc

He's not hitting his peak, HE JOINED ARSENAL AS A SECOND TEAM WINGER..... WINGER.

He's an all around player, he is NOT just goals, his assist rate is excellent and always has been. He started at Arsenal behind Henry and Bergkamp, and several others at various points. Adebayor was bought in also as Wenger decided to make the switch from 4-4-2 that he played wing or withdrawn striker when he joined, to 4-5-1, in which Adebayor frequently started as the "big guy upfront" with Wenger, not me or RVP deciding RVP would be rubbish up top and often stuck with Adebayor.

His strike rate to games has ALWAYS been excellent, his first team years he was young but still got 5 goals with 12-13 starts in the league, then it started being 9-10 goals in 10-15 appearances, with as many assists, and he was banging in one season 5 goals 1 assist in 8 UCL games, another season 3 goals 3 assists in 8 UCL games.

He's had some injuries which have undoubtedly cost him, he's had a moron manager who didn't always play him first team(sometimes deservedly, Henry/Berg's at his best, frequently not, behind Adebayor, lol). Ultimately he's played 18 months as the furthest forward striker and scored 48 in 56 games in that position, with 16 assists. The two years before that it was 20 goals, 17 assists, in 38 starts.

Jarvis 9m? Fletcher 14m? Rodriguez 8m? Matt Phillips 6m?

Snodgrass 3.5m?

We really do suck as a selling club, Gradel, Beckford, Howson, Johnson all left for near nothing. Pathetic really. Granted their contracts expiring come into context (Snoddy's) definitely but still ridiculous how we get in this position.

Rodriguez was 7m but I do agree Leeds aren't playing the game right, Snodgrass should have easily commanded in and around the same sort of price tag Phillips has.

Can only hope some new owners turn up at some point soon...

Are people actually debating whether Van Persie has been injured a lot in the past?

F1 is in week 2 of its summer break, we're all missing something trivial to bicker about ;)
