Also thinking of V8 powa - BMW

Went round a few garages yesterday and saw a load of cars - looks like I have some sorting out to do - Porsche Cayenne has popped into the equation too now !

What did surprise me was the amount of space available in the 3 series coupes and there are plenty about.

What is the difference between Sport and Clubsport - anyone know?

So you are trying to decide between a Porsche SUV or a 3 Series Coupe? Eh?

Clubsport has different wheels, a different spoiler, corner splitters and removed sound deadening under the bonnet mainly.

For weekend fun, I'd go for an E39 M5 before an E60 545 any day - may as well do it properly, if you can afford to run it! Standard non-M V8s aren't that much more special than the 6s to be worth the extra costs. I was in a similar position to you, albeit looking for a daily driver rather than weekend fun, and had convinced myself i wanted a V8 for the noise and lols. But when I found the 'right' car it happenned to be a 530, and I haven't regretted the missing cylinders one bit. The 6s make a good noise too.

As above think about what you are really looking for - do you particularly want a BMW 5-series? Certainly a good shout if you're after a nice luxo-barge. If you just really need a V8 there are plenty of other alternatives, though, including some that do the whole V8 thing somewhat more red-blooded than a 5-series (M5 notwithstanding), e.g. Monaro, Mustang, Vette. If it's just fun and power you want and you don't specifically need the V8, again there's plenty out there - how about japanese and turbos? Evo, Skyline etc all within reach. M3? TVR? Boxter? Enjoy the search.
