As the only form of cardio I do (other than walking for about 20mins formthe gym 2x a week) is swimming which I do 3-4 times a week, Im thinking of upping my session from 30mins to 45mins.

Think its worth it?

On a side note. I am making progress strength wise. My program invloves adding 0.5kg to the bar each time and so far it works. Other excercises such as barbell curls Im making bigger jumps as in 2.5kg a week.

I think I'v reaching my max on the barbell curl, today I added 10kg to the bar, so I think my 2.5kg weekly increases will slow down, but then the idea is to add 0.5kg each time so I think im nearing that stage.

Only reason why Im thinking of upping my swimming sessions to 45mins, is becuase (its been 2 weeks) I still feel fat! All my fat is on my lower abs.

When I look in the mirror, I have a bulge on the lower abdomen, which I'v had for ever and ever!

Was just wondering are 'the gym' gyms ok? Theres one not far from me so im thinking of signing up and starting to work out a bit more!

One thing that became apparent last week, is that I need to eat even to do cardio.

I missed a cardio session, becuase I was too hungry and tired to do any excersie.

Usually before a weights session I eat a sandwich consiting of a chicken breast, two bits of brown bread, and low fat mayo, maybe a little bit of cheese too.

Should I do the same even for my cardio sessions swimming?

From the first pic, you can see thats quiet a gut, I got going on there! I'v had it all my life. To some degree its genetic and hereditary.

Dad is the same.

I wear 32" trousers. Probably for my hight and size should be more 30" or even 28"

embarrassment has nowt to do with it m8 post it up we aint gonna judge, ice or lie or FF can come round calling me a fat git cos i train and comment, i deserve the good and the bad, but you new guys no one gonna beat you down you may not get high praise but without a gauge for start and progress its hard to give feedback

Short answer dont eat before cardio.

Your BF is too high, the feeling you are experiencing before/after training is just a sugar low, a common side effect in us higher bf individuals. The reality is your pancreas will cope (unless you have a life threatening ilness which is very unlikely) and that feeling is only your bodies reluctance to use bodyfat for energy.

Push through it but do NOT eat pre train for any reason, not if you want to lose some of the weight.

Okay, I'd skip the barbell curls for now personally and do something a bit more worthwhile, you're soon going to hit a wall with them as well.

Fat on the lower abs is common, I have it as well (to some degree as can be seen in the pics thread) hence why I am cutting. As UE has said, in short, you have high BF, are you losing weight currently? How much are you eating? What are you eating?

I presume you mean do not eat before the cardio but eat something before weights? Don't think I could train completely fasted :p I have about an hour or two gap after my last meal

There's one next to me to but I didn't sign up to it because they don't have a bench press, most (if not all) their equipment are machines and for free weights, the dumbbells only go up to 30kg. But they are quite cheap and open 24/7 so can be worth checking out to see if they have all that you need.

Could you maybe try some caffeine if you want to train fasted?

I think 2-4 hours gap pre train pretty decent for someone wanting to lose weight. Im not gonna preach any 'rules' just state that i know a ton of overweight individuals who swear blind that they can barely move unless they eat first. Get them in the gym without at least feeding them a takeaway and they will come over all feint and claim they "need food". Weirdly enough this effect is absent amongst naturally slim types. No one needs food to train, sure you wanna push maxes you need muscle glycogen. But i could go in the gym after 2 or 3 days fasting and still push out my usual sets within about an 85-90% range. We are designed better than to need food before exercise.

Ok, I wont eat before cardio. I told you I was fat/skinny. As in high bf but low muscle mass.

My parents call me skinny! Yea skinny fat!

Maybe now that you know what I'm up against here is my current diet:

9am. 2 Toast with honey/butter, cup of milk and 30g whey & a banana

10am-1pm 2 cups of coffee with a small amount of sugar in both.

1.30pm: Either a sandwich consiting of a baguette, mozarella, tomato and ham or I go to the viatmese restarant and eat spicy chicken and rice. Sounds unhealthy, but its not. Nothing is fried, chicken is boiled and comes with lettuce and pepper.

6pm (If weights - I eat a sandwich consiting of a chicken breast, 2 bits of bread and maybe some cheese)

After gym - 8.30ish: Will eat potatoes/rice with fish/meat and sald/vegetables.

How does that look? Now for cardio session which is currently 30mins swimming (might up it to 45mins) I take it I dont eat at 6pm?

I dont know what happend to me but when I was around 18, I balloned in weight, big time must have been 13-14stone. Now at 30yr old im 11.

Are they ok - yes, and no.

Completely depends on what you want from the place. Go and have a look around and see if there is everything that you need, go at a time that you would normally want to go so you can see how busy it is and make sure its ok for you :)
