As a "defence", DM, left back, cb's, right back, keeper.

Mikel is better than anything Utd have at DM, by a freaking mile, Cole is miles better than Evra, Ivanovic pee's all over anything Utd have at right back in any capacity, first team or back up. Cech is better than De Gea.... so over 6 key positions in defence, Chelsea have 4 that 9/10 fans would take over Utd players.

Two cb's are great, really great, look how that works out for Arsenal, team work, the whole defence is the key, not just the CB's, who when hung out to dry by rubbish fullbacks make constant mistakes.

Then you have CB's, Terry isn't even close to past it, he was ALWAYS slow and has always made up for it well, and Ivanovic is brilliant at CB as well as right back. Basically ask different people and who the two best CB's would be different from everyone, most people would chose Chelsea players for all the other positions, Chelsea have the better defence.

I'll point out that Vidic did almost nothing for Utd tonight, got caught out and should have got a yellow as he was turned easily, he didn't dominate the box at all at any set piece, offensive or defensive, I simply don't rate him. Terry/Ivanovic dominate offensive/defensive set pieces and neither would be as annonymous as Vidic was tonight.

My person preference of Utd/Chelsea players at CB would be Terry and Ivanovic, with a cloned Ivanovic at right back as well :p

Who had the best defence out of United and Chelsea last season DM?

I agree :( Looked like he hadn't played in about a year he was so poor.

Oh come on! We both know you only had a better defensive record than Chelsea because Wenger is an idiot!

Not sure if that is a joke about me blaming Wenger for everything or he meant to say AVB, but yes, AVB.

Should we look at something really worth talking about, Utd not long ago with as far as I can remember a first team defence, were torn a new one against Barca in the CL, Chelsea defended themselves to winning the game. Chelsea did it, Utd were incapable of it. Rio the bestest player ever and Vidic the usually utterly dominant in the area according to some(maybe I'm remembering wrong, 99% sure Rio played, maybe Vidic didn't) let MESSI.... the freaking midget, score a header.

Who cares who HAD the best defence in a given year in the league, if AVB took charge of UTd this year, arbitrarily fired Rio as he was too old, arbitrarily fired Scholes as he was too old and randomly played your defence to its biggest weakness for months before admitted he was completely wrong(entirely different to the being fired which was later) then Utd would concede more goals as well. If Fergie just randomly decided to play Vidic on the half way line all game every game... he'd do more rugby tackles than normal, what happens in a year where a nut job gets in charge really isn't relevant.

Today I'd choose 4 from Chelsea if faced with the choice between Utd/Chelsea players for the 6 key positions, decent DM, quality commanding keeper, quality fullbacks are key to any defence, as I said two quality CB's(lets assume Vidic and Rio are the best, and constantly available) mean nothing when several of that other 4 constantly let them down. Terry is ever available and has been quality for the past what 8 seasons, I'd take that over Rio supposedly a better defender... who is never available.

Newcastle, being fit, available and a team is more important than the invidual quality of any single player, MUCH more important, Utd are terrible in terms of consistent back 4, have no DM whatsoever and I don't think De Gea is remotely bad, just not as good as Cech.

Goal.com saying we are in talks with Jovetic. They reported about our new CEO months ago so maybe they get little snippets of info from inside the club.

Certainly looks good on YouTube but i have never watched a Fiorentina match.

Don't know where he fits in the team and is likely a non starter but will be interesting to see if it does become more public.

Dont think he's been the same since he had to sit out a whole season 1 or 2 years ago

Arsenal fans will be pleased, it looks like you aren't done in the transfer market: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/8007028/Wenger-wants-two-signings

Fernando Llorente's agent has admitted the Athletic Bilabo ace could move to the Premier League before the close of the transfer window.

"I don't know the [choice of] club at the moment but there are two [interested] clubs. One is in London, and one is in Manchester."

Man City then? Obviously not going to be us! :p

Well Aguero is only going to be out for 2-3 weeks (apparently), I think Spurs or even Arsenal would be a better destination for him.

City have Dzeko who is a player in a similar mould, anyway.

Being a Spurs supporter i think he would be better here personally, especially with the strikers that Arsenal have unless they will be playing two up front. I think they have enough as it is, they just need to gel, adapt and get their scoring boots on.

I doubt he would though and would prefer CL football, if that is the case then i could see him going there. If it isn't all just made up that is! ;)

Why do Arsenal have enough? They are still wanting Bendtner to leave, and Chamakh is about as bad a premiership striker I think I've ever seen.

Why the hell would city sell Johnson and replace him with Sinclair?

That's a trade down if I have ever seen one.
We would replace him with Sinclair because Johnson hasn't become the player that was expected. He has become more interested in going out clubbing and putting in half the effort in training and the same or less in games.
Regularly complaining about not playing and when he gets his chance doing nothing.

Sinclair will be a better fit for our team and he is younger as well.

Wenger has even said that the striking department wasn't a concern even before RVP left, he is looking for someone who can fill the creative midfielder role.

Thing is if Bendtner doesn't go and Chamakh stays that is 4 strikers on their books.

Either way i doubt Llorente will be coming over here.

Man City - He wouldn't be first choice and would be behind Tevez/Aguero, which he will not want as he will not warm the bench.

Arsenal - He could go there but personally don't think he will. No in the CL, don't pay big wages and probably won't spend the 20+ mill on him.

Spurs - Small chance, but very much doubt it.

I think he might change his mind though if someone comes in for Bendtner or /and Chamakh
