Apple becomes most valuable firm of all time

You guys have to chill out a little. I have the iMac 27inch... Always wanted one, and was lucky enough to get one for a present. Yes, the PC performs better for certain things, but you cant deny if you got offered one, you wouldnt keep it ;)

Nope I'd sell it and go snowboarding.

Great achievement by apple though, I wonder how much further they can climb before loosing value. They must be near the peak now.

Apple worked hard for this.

Everyone saying how crap the products are but they look nice.... Yet they are the biggest seller... YAWN.

Actually i would sell it without thinking about it twice :p

If it's true they are working on a TV or a terrestrial/cable TV capable box, and they can get the broadcasters and studios on board like they did with the record labels and iTunes... who knows.

*Insert typical OcUK anti-Apple remark here*

You forgot:

*Insert typical OcUK love Apple remark here*

Which balances out the typical debate we get here........

Maybe we should have a poll:

a) Love Apple
b) Hate Apple
c) Eat my pancake
d) To thick to take a balanced view
e) I love fanboys

Microsoft’s 1999 value of $620 billion would be $852 billion in today’s dollars, and lets not forget Rockefeller's standard oil company which accounting for inflation was (in its day) worth over $600 billion years ago.

Sooo you two would sell a christmas gift or a birthday gift? Really? How very Rachel Green of you.

Also Apple products sell for a high amount. I.E my 2010 model ill lost about £300.00 on it if i was to sell it today. I'm spending Hundreds on a new Gaming Rig and if i was too sell imagine how much i would lose.

/Jus' Saying.

Yes Apple charge a premium for it's products, but so do many other companys, such as BMW, so get over it. Apple material selection and build quality is top notch imho.

They may not produce the fastest products on the market, but what they do build works very well in an intuitive and reliable fashion, haters will always hate.

lol whilst i personaly dont care much for apple products they must be getting something right

I've played around with my gf's iPhone 4 quite a few times now and i don't get it. There's nothing special about it at all. Not to warrent this kind of success. It's a well made and functional but it's not better then every other phone out there. I go back to my SGS2 after and it feels more like a sophisticated and cooler piece of tech.

There's no denying Apple have created some excellent products in their time and they have, thanks to design and marketing, created a very solid user base.

I must admit I've never bought anything of theirs, and my girlfriends experience with her ipod Touch and that bloody awful itunes did nothing to change my mind.

The best thing about them is they have forced other companies to innovate the PC/android market to keep up.

You just don't understand why - simple, attractive, effective, stable, quality, good support - makes something good.

You're trying to judge it based on how many nerd points it gets, which isn't what happens in the real world.

Your g/f's iPhone doesn't seem as impressive as your newer iPhone clone?

I don't give a toss about nerd points, i want to use something that makes me happy using it. Out of all you list up there a vast majority of the phones on the market now can claim all of those. In fact I'd say the Win7 Mobile is even more simple, effective and stable.

For the few months i had it was was bloody bulletproof! But i wanted more functions and freedom to configure the phone how i wanted it and i considered apple at the time but it was only a little more open and it was also too nailed down for what i wanted it to do. So i went android, love it and when ICS came out it was even better.

But they're still quite different. You prefer something else, so why can't other people?

I don't want to get into a big debate about the specifics of it, but the whole app store and Apple ecosystem is better than everything else at present. The Windows Phone one can't even begin to compete - that rules it out for most people. Apps are something of great importance to many people.

I've never understood this 'style over substance' mentality people have with Apple. Personally, if I wanted style over substance id be buying a Samsung smartphone; loads of gimmicks and gizmos but ultimately a poor smartphone experience that leaves a lot of people dissatisfied. With the highest customer satisfaction ratings, Apple are the company who provide the most substance. That their products are almost always very stylish too is just icing on the cake.

"Apple ecosystem" sounds very impressive and trendy, care to tell us exactly what that is?
