Tyre Prices Make Me Cry

So let me ask you this, in your eyes, what would have been an acceptable reply?
"Yes, tyres are expensive unfortunately"
"Where are you looking for tyres? It may be cheaper at XXX or XYZ"
"What tyres do you have? ABC tyres are cheaper than EFG yet just as good as ABC if not better - why not give them a try?"

etc etc.

OP has also asked a question on PSI, which got answered "acceptably."
Why don't you all shoot him down for not knowing what the PSI is or where the sticker is for recommended PSI info?

Over exaggerating much?!

It's almost as if you have to be Jeremy Clarkson or a mechanic for McLaren in order to post in Motors sometimes...

People should just back the **** off the OP.

People buy things without thinking? Oh big deal. Having a whine because prices aren't what they expected? Big deal. Have little or no knowledge of the car you've just bought? Big deal. It's like everyone in Motors like to make a big deal out of nothing. It's becoming more and more of an unfriendly place to post.

*Awaits incoming barrage of "get back in the kitchen" jokes.

No kitchen jokes, modern women use their thumb/threat of no sex to make us men kitchen slaves :D

Not over exaggerating at all, the OP came on her whining about tyres. He either knew the prices and decided to come on here for some pity/a mon or didn't do his research. This is lovely OcUK Motors, not mumsnet where we all huddle together for an illogical rant ;)

Remember, he posted the thread then had a go at one of the Dons and pulled out big hitting phrases such as 'High Horse' and 'Trolls'. He should get out and enjoy his car, have a nice 99 with a flake for some chillaxation or make love to a beautiful woman to release that pent up rage.

I also want your cupackes, they look delightful!!!!!!!!!

Which would have been all well and good had the OP worded his opening post better, he set himself up for a fall, posting style 101.

It's hardly a shocker that a bunch of motoring enthusiasts, who fully research purchases before making them, think the OP's shock at discovering large wheels need expensive tyres is somewhat comical.

20 inch tyres are expensive regardless of make. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but surely it's obvious big tyres cost a lot just like big engined cars use a lot of fuel.

51psi does sound high but the correct pressure will be in the manual which would be a lot easier to find than hoping a random person here would know the pressures.

All he said was "Tyre Prices Make Me Cry" and "Just had kittens at cost of tyres! :-( Going to start saving now...." - Wow big deal! He's talked more about the PSI for his tyres more than the cost of his tyres. Perhaps he was expecting more answers like some of the examples I've given above?

"even decided to have a go at one of the Dons"? What, are they more superior posters and we need to treat them differently do we?

P.s. "your cupcakes" are not mine. I don't do baking, or cooking. I rarely step foot into the kitchen. It's not my place ;)

Well maybe I am more tolerant than most of the posters in this thread, as I found nothing problematic with his original post, and everything wrong with the way it was replied to, same goes for the CI Diesel thread as well.

The OP merely stated that the tyres were even more expensive than he imagined in the same post asking for where he could find tyre pressure info as it wasn't in his expected location of the door jam. With the price of Oil per barrel, the less usual sizes are getting much more expensive these days, there is another thread started by Fox that pretty much mirrors that thought train. Sure he could have posted in that thread and probably very little would have gone the same way as this thread has.

It just seems that so many new threads are targeted to ridicule as much as possible the OP. Every time a new poster (to motors) comes in and asks for advice from a petrolhead, they are pretty much treated like a moron as well, which I am guessing is why many choose to stay away.

I am convinced that those posters are not as rude in real life, so I have no understanding of why they have to behave like this in written forums?

aha! Finally, proof. I always thought you being an actual woman was unlikely, my suspicions have been confirmed.....

Is that euphemism?

Nope, refering to the cupcakes in the sig. I'm currently on a boat, sans cupcake, but want cupcakes, yummy squishy cupcakes :D

He's been here for a number of months so should know how people would react. I'm thinking he knew what the responses would be and inceptioned us into them, we been trolled! He started this all with the thread ;)

He made a good post with the OP hounding him, telling him to get off his 'High Horse'. It was just an example. As I've already said, his whole posting attitude in this thread stinks.

Fair enough. You're not much use then :p ;)

So, other than the price of tyres how is the A7? Its one of few audi's that I really like the look of. Cant help but feel the drive wouldn't match up on wheels that size though?

Hi,

for ME (before anyone jumps in) its the perfect car.

Sporty/Coupe looks with hatchback/practicality.
Spacious and luxurious interior from A8 plus compared to other cars I have had its pretty rapid 240bhp with 8 speed gear box returning 40-45mpg regularly - more if i drive like a nun.

Ive never really got the "Drivers car" argument, for me it is comfortable and goes....Dont plan to race around tracks etc.

Again - for MY daily use Automatic gear box has been real benefit and depending what its like in Snow.... don't think I would return to manual unless I had to.

You should create a thread, complaining and crying about it with many cryface smilies.

OP, your posts come across as: a. Whiny and b. hostile. No wonder people have ripped into you with such an attitude.

Man up, deal with it and get on with enjoying your new car. Or sellup and buy a Seat Mii.

(Goes off to research new tyres in 195/50/15) :D:D:D
Jog On Son - Whiny??? Hostile?? Attitude?? You not back at school yet?

AD rides a moped and everything, other than throwing bricks through windows he has to occupy his time with something.

Aye, I've been found out by some flatulent Gerrard Butler.

I'm back at school right now on an boat 100miles West of Shetland.

New age schooling they call it apparently :D

Just promise me you won't jump overboard on discovering how much 275/35/R20 cost for the RS6.

Enjoy the beer and fishing ;)

Not sure what all the fuss is about really, you can get 20" tyres for not much more than I pay for 15s. They arn't quite the right size but I'm sure they would fit on just fine. 265/35/20 are a little more though:

Not even going to look, the boss has a C5 and wil be selling up shortly! It does cost a small fortune to run.

Beer would be epic right now, but I've substituted it for an extra espresso shot in my latte before we have lunch (Reindeer no doubt).

I was more getting at the comfort factor in a car that size - I've never driven an A7 to be fair but I'd expect a car of that size to be nice and soft, can't imagine the wheels make that the case?
