Welcome aboard JD, you just joined the cool kids club.
12.8 driver with 12.7cap 3 is the driver set you want. Uber performance in bf3 for 7970 with this driver. They've really nailed it and finally cracked that code what gimped aa on AMD cards.
hahaAt last, high five'd wherever I may go by good looking people with fabulous lives. I've mostly been with ATI/AMD with my only Nvidia cards being 7600GT, 8800GTX and the GTX 670 I'm sending back. I'm happy with the performance of the GTX 670, it's just that I've been really blown away with the 7970 reviews since after the 12.7 Beta driver release. Even though I was happy at the performance, incredibly happy about the little noise I can hear, my mind was imagining whispers of "traitor" or "Jen-Hsun Huang fanboi" as well as a nightmare about a green screen of death (jokes). So I gave in. Thank you Lt.Matt, yer a star

When you get your card and decide to overclock, visit my thread here.

Despite initial concerns in the thread it works wonderfully and is a more reliable method than afterburner's unofficial overclock method.
Let us know how it clocks. I can reach 1200core, it really makes mince meat of games at that speed.
3 7970 cards in BF3 @ 1080p is CPU limited, its not down to the drivers.
In 1080p Ultra, they will push about 35-45% utilisation each.
3 7970 cards in 1440p works rather better.

My 2 7970's are cpu limited in BF3 @1080p no matter what driver i use.

To be fair 7970 crossfire is a bit overkill for 1080p![]()
I'll give it a try. I used AB with my 6950 flashed to 6970 but I got fed up of using it and just used the RacerX CCC registry change to give me more headroom in Core and Memory in CCC which keeps powerplay working. Does that still work?.
The only thing I lost using the CCC registry change was voltage control as I had in AfterBurner. I used "Radeon Bios Editor" (RBE) to set my volts from 1.100v (stock 6950) (1.175v stock 6970) so I raised it to 1.2v as I usualy sat between 920-950Mhz on the core for gaming and up to 1Ghz for benchmarking.
I do notice the flicker and after reading your thread rather than skimming I'm actually interested in trying this so I'll do it as I've done it so many other ways with older AMD cards. Again LT.Matt, thank you. I really hope I can hit 1200Mhz.
It can do 120 hz constantly (this comes from the monitor). It can't do 120 FPS constantly but it's not really as big a thing as is made out![]()
Guy above says he's getting 95% utilisation in BF3 MP on 3 cards.....how?
You can still do 120 Hz constant though![]()
120 Hz != 120 FPS
The ultimate smoothness of course comes from running 120 constant but the real difference between 60 and 120 Hz comes from the monitor side of it.
OK i'll buy you a beer if you can show me how? 120 fps constant?
64 players in any large map.
Doh just mugged myself right up there.......
Care to explain?
What 2 **** does 120 hz got to do with 120 fps ?? Its like saying My washing mashine can do 120 spins a minute and my cooker can do 120c no problems oO.
Anyway I will try that 12.7 cap 3 today on my bf3. Not sure if i will gain anything cos i play without AA![]()
