People saying about Form over function that Apple do...

Well I think it was Stephen Fry that said it, he said "the better form makes you want to use it more therefore getting more function from the device"

to you personally it does... my real gripe is when you ask the question "Why do you need/want <insert device here> ?" and I get the reply because it's cool/everyone else has one/it's the best <insert device here> out there according to <insert name or company here>." when thy've clearly not even looked at the alternatives that could do the job better, the same but cost less etc... it's the laziness, stupidity & gullibillity of others and the companies that exploit such things to profiteer rather than make the world a better place as they claim to do that concerns me more than the actual products.

Growth and investment doesn't disprove holding the money is detrimental. It will be detrimental if spending the money would have meant that Apple were even bigger than they are now.

The term "fools rush in" comes to mind and tbh more and more seem to be born by the minute also put these idiots into a position of power and things will go horribly wrong... case in point Labours previous govt. and the current state of the economy come to mind.

Not really, I can differentiate between me not needing something and something not having a use.

To address your point about 'not needing' something, well I don't need my HTC One S. I could get by fine on a G300 or something for a quarter the price. I wouldn't want to though, due to the speed/form/build quality of my One S.

Does that mean I've wasted money? Of course not, I just value different things much like those who buy Apple gear because it looks good (who are mostly a minority).
Why are you so fussed that they value aesthetics over price or outright speed?

You sound like someone with a superiority complex. Which is funny considering it's usually Apple users that are mocked for such. As Harry's wife says; "It's an inanimate ****ing object". The fact you let it, and people that use it bother you says a lot.

It's not the object that bothers me it's the idiots who make ill informed or even uninformed decisions who then have the audacity to call me an idiot for not having what they consider the best thing since sliced bread when I make reasoned arguments against the(sfaic) useless tosh they're trying to push on me!

Do you only buy from companies who never profiteer, or try to make the world a better place?

As any sales guy will tell you, it's not always the best product that wins.

I know what you mean. It's nearly as bad as someone who turns a phrase like "fools rush in" and insults the intelligence of just about every person on the (might I add technology enthusiast) forum who has purchased an Apple product.
 
You seem to be tarring a lot of people with the same brush.......

What about those who fully know what else they could buy, know the plus and minus points and still select the Apple product?

Would someone like that result in you having a full online meltdown?

I used to worry about alternatives to products, massively over analyse tech etc, then I realised it really doesn't matter all that much. Buy something you like, for whatever reason you like. If you want to buy it because your mate has one, do it. Who cares? If it isn't technically the best for the price, who cares?

If you were to read my previous posts I said if you can make a reasoned arguement as to why the apple is a preferable choice to you a well informed balanced reason then I have no problem with you buying the product it's the damn idiots who don't do this that make me fear.


and judging by others posts they've not read these bits either Let me state my position so that the lazy readers out there can understand. :p

Apple Product SFAIC = Bad I have my own reasons

People buying apple Products = Not fussed if they have a genuine well balanced reason to purchase said products

My Problem = Idiot's who have no real reason to buy products other than It's cool, all my mates have one etc.. and the companies who shill these unnecessary products to them not because it's right but because it's profitable.

Those people buy much more than Apple products. Just look at how many 3 series BMWs with 4 pot diesels exist for instance. Am I mad about people who buy BMW 3 series diesel 4 pots? No.
 
I find it odd that some people care so much about what products other people buy. Do they have nothing better to worry about?
