MBP 15" retina 3-4 weeks!!

I picked 2.6 GHz model of these up on Friday from Apple Store in Regents Street, hugely impressed with it....

Joining the Apple crew hopefully in a few weeks. Ordering up my MacBook Pro Retina tomorrow! Had a play with one in the store and was utterly blown away!

ehehehe, replacement arrived today. They've not taken my old one yet. > £4000 sat on my desk, as you do!

Just received my new rMBP, seriously impressed with this piece of kit. The screen is fantastic, although I can see people's gripe with applications not being made for it yet. Not all that bothered though, they'll all gradually catch up.

Managed to use education discount and get a £70 itunes 'back to school' card through work since we use a university internet connection. Result eh? :D

Well, TNT picked up my old one!

New one doesn't creak at all, the bottom panel is a better fit. Happy now :D

I'm leaning towards the base model retina pro. I was toying with getting a 13" Air but after I spec it to 8GB of RAM and 256 SSD It's nearly 1200 quid (with HE discount) for not a very powerful computer, all be it slim.

Am I crazy to fork out the extra £380 for the retina pro? I'm taking a career break to go back to uni do to a masters in October and I need to buy a laptop in the next couple of weeks and can't for the life of me make up my mind :(

I'll be using it for course work assignments, document editing, web browsing. The appeal of the retina is the nvidia GPU, I want to leave my gaming rig and ps3 behind but thought I could sneak the odd game on the laptop via bootcamp and watch some blu-rays via an external drive. The retina display is a huge draw from me and after having owned the new ipad for a few months the MacBook Air screen is kind of meh.....

Just go for the retina!

Or maybe wait and see what September 12th brings with rumoured 13" Retina.

Ah yes your right, I forgot about that. Good idea, a 13" retina would be perfect! If I order by the 13th I should be Ok as I'm not moving up until the last week of September.

So if he orders a machine that may not be launched in October early he will have it in September?

No, when they release a new computer they release it day 1. I assumed you meant there would be a waiting list and push back lead times 2-3 wees like the current retina.

How is everyone getting on with the lag probs ?

Think they're non existant now with the mountain lion update. But since Mountain Lion people are getting 4 hours on battery instead of 8 so that's hinting towards it using the 650m more...
