I don't think he's great, but he's better than Jenas/Sandro and the likes.
can't really compare huddlestone to either. he doesn't have the craft or guile of modric, he's very slow, large turning circle but has a cracking pass and a great shot on him, he's scored some crackers. if he had pace, he'd be a great player in cm due to his size, but he doesn't.
i can only assume AVB simply doesn't see he has a future in his plans so will loan him out, keep an eye on him as opposed to having him on the bench as parker, sandro, sig, VDV will all start ahead of him, couple this with lennon and bale and it's a case of there being no room for him with gio and livermore on the bench ..... annnnd us being linked very strongly with willian, so we are going to be overcooked in midfield if this goes through, which i hope it does.
but, huddlestone is a good squad player, ideal for cup and euro games. he's not the kind of player one can bring on to kill a game off for the last 20 as he doesn't have elements of his game to do this, he can't nacker an opposition out and he can't dictate a pace. i don't think he's played for us for about a year now, we haven't really missed him in all honesty. same with jenas and bentley. we've been due a clear out for a while and it's happening.
so far this year we've lost pav (bad move) kranjcar (i'm on the fence, i'd prefer him to jenas) corluka (bad move) pienaar (on the fence) nelsen (good move) saha (good move) bassong (good move) loaned out huddlestone and possibly jenas and bentley. i'm not even sure where gomes fits into our plans but that's quite a good reduction in wages. and modric is as good as gone and king retired..
