***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

So... my trip to pick up my SGS3 from Carphone Warehouse today -

CPW: "Here you go, it says it's all done and working"

It says they'd updated the software and 'replaced screws'?

Me: "Okay, would you mind logging in to one of your WiFi networks?"

CPW: "Oh, that's odd... it just keeps saying 'authentication failed' "

Me: "How odd, that's exactly the fault I was having, which was why I brought it to you!"

One of their supervisors/managers had a go and conceded there is a fault. He's now asked Samsung to send me a new S3, but it's going to take 5 working days :(

It's the first time I've ever had a hardware fault, in all the devices I've had (and that's a lot in the last couple of years) and what a pain in the bum it is :(

Nice work! 5 days isn't too bad if you're getting a new device.

White is a strange blend of a light green, light blue and a bit of purple, that could classify as white at a real push if you hold the phone away from you.

Just popped to my sister's house and tested her S3 - Yup as you said it's faint RGB that looks like white at a distance. My mistake.

Probably the wrong thread to ask this in, but would you recommend this over the IPhone 4S?

Ive already got a Touch and Ipad2 so dont need the novelty of the App store on the phone... however if I got this phone Samsung III it would be on the 3 Network for their all you can eat data?

Is this wise!

Guys i've just purchased this phone brand new, and Ive noticed the signal drops when at home to no bars and stays like that for a minute or two. I've tried other sims as the phones unlock but i'm getting the same problem. Is there any fix or does it seem a faulty headset.

Got my S3 today and for some reason I can't hear people on calls. The earpiece just doesn't seem to be working. Callers can hear me and I can hear them only if I switch it to speaker or plug in some headphones. It's just the front earpiece which doesn't seem to be working. Guess I'll be ringing vodafone tomorrow and asking for a replacement...

Had mine for a couple of days and really liking it. It's a big, big improvement over my old Galaxy S1.

One thing, though: I remember hearing about it having face detection that could tell when you were looking at it and keep the screen on. Only mine doesn't do this, and it would be vastly preferable to having to keep touching the screen. Is it some hidden/not-so-hidden setting somewhere?

Settings > Display > Smart Stay

Its still a test firmware so probably has a few bugs :)

I cant wait til next week so will give this a go. If it goes moobs up Ill just restore.

So is there a ROM that everyone feels is the best? If so, why? May just stick with rooted stock for now seeing as the official JB ROM is due soon.

My Omega 13 is really smooth but I keep reading good things on JB. I.....cant.....resist

I'm on CM9 and wouldn't mind moving to JB too but I can't, not until Siyah Kernel or Voodoo sound is released. I listen to a lot of music on my phone and with the sound mods... it sounds absolutely amazing.

Another OTA JB release is out, seems like Samsung is using the general public for beta testing.
