A man caught doing 180mph in a police chase on the M6....!!

I really do hope you don't get into an accident, it won't be pretty in your speed.

I hope he does. Although hopefully no other parties will be involved because no one can possibly touch him. Shame we'll never see the thread, only the news paper headline when it happens.

Never thought I'd see the day I would have to argue that 180mph on public roads are unsafe.

"what!!! You drive at night without high beams"
"murderer"
"you are worse than a child molester"

"yeh i drive at 180mph, but mainly i do 120+ an a regular basis"
"ahh **** it, we've all done it before haha"
"lol all that will happen is you might hit a dog, so what"
"wow, you did 180mph, wish my car went that quick, you must have a huge..."

I stand behind there is "no great risk". I agree with you that there are higher risk factors, but you can somewhat mitigate them, and they aren't so high as to consider the action unsafe.

i do love this selfish opinion of "i'm such a good driver that i can drive at 180mph on the public roads and over 60mph in a 30mph road." while i really wouldnt care about it if you closed the roads off i'm pretty sure that the people you share the roads with at the time will not be best pleased that you are putting their lives at risk "because you're a good driver"

you could be the best driver in the world, but everyone makes mistakes no matter how much care and attention they are putting into driving and no matter how good a driver they are. soon you will make a mistake and i just hope that you dont hurt anyone else in the process

by the sound of this thread you've made several mistakes already while driving far too quickly for the road and haven't learned anything from them. luckily there havent been any serious injuries yet but at the speeds you claim to drive i can almost guarantee that wont be the case next time :(

Just an FYI, a very close friend of mine hit a deer in a Ford KA (new shape) at around 50mph, there were no skids marks as she didn't have time to brake. The car was a complete write off and she was in hospital with a broken leg and facial injuries (teehee) from the airbags.

Of course, the BMW to hit that deer at 150mph (which I'm sceptical about honestly) it could have literally been a case of, the faster you go and hit it, the more it's just going to explode. Also, the vertical grills in the BMW will have helped dice that bad boy up a treat!!! :D

I have not been in a fault accident for over 7 years - those that did occur were in my first few months of driving, and happened at less than 30 MPH (one at 5 MPH!)

Nothing really justifies that sort of comment, you should be incredibly embarrassed right now to wish actual harm on someone.

You can't tell me you've never driven in a way that would expose yourself and others to increased risk - why did you buy a Focus ST after all? No one buys them to plod about in, so you can't kid anyone there.

Wondered how long it would take for you to pop up.

I have spirited countryside drives. More often that not the only dangers being sheep and Tractors. I don't drive stupidly or ever go out of my comfort zone, if anything were to ever happen, I would only injure myself.

This community is beyond a joke, picking up on tiny elements I say. Yet overlooking the fact some disk jockey thinks 180mph is safe. WTF

i dont get it,

how can driving at 180mph on a public road ever be safe?

No idea, coz they NEVER have accidents in F1, despite having the best drivers, a 24/7 mechanics, cars rebuilt and checked at a snap of a finger. You know, best driver, 100% reliability, no silly grannies on the track, no deer or dogs.

No accidents in F1, right?

But plenty when they do the warm up lap though!

So, PMKeates is comfortable doing 180mph, you are not, so by your logic it is 100% fine for him to do 180mph as it is within his comfort zone. Well done sir, well done.

You drive spiritedly along country lanes? BUT THE DEER?

Quick, Raymond!

:D

And driving a road car in a straight line is so similar to racing on an F1 track ;)

You have a lot of crashes and problems with go-karts and they aren't even reaching the speed limit.

Hello.

I have spirited countryside drives. More often that not the only dangers being sheep and Tractors. I don't drive stupidly or ever go out of my comfort zone, if anything were to ever happen, I would only injure myself.

I never buy that because you could end up going through someone's wall and into their house (that actually happens, although rare) or you could lose control and stray into oncoming traffic during a 'spirited' drive. You are actively increasing any risk much like if you chose to drive down the M1 at 180mph.

I don't think it's okay in the slightest, I'm just fed up of the holier than thou comments that always pop up and the ridiculous scenarios people create to try and exaggerate dangers on the roads.

Such speeds could be done in the UK on some stretches of motorway in a capable car, that's not to say it wouldn't be high risk but there's no need to exaggerate or insult anyone's intelligence. I've seen all sorts of stupid things happen on the road, and most of the time they've been down to lack of concentration, not speed.
