*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

See, stories like this put a massive dent in the 'amazing value' argument for the 7.

Yes I have had 2, both with problems, first one had screen lift plus when you touched the bottom left of screen it looked like when you press an LCD with your finger, the second one has an auto brightness problem that completely blanks the screen so you can't see anything, if you put the brightness slider down to the last 3rd the screen goes off completely, not very good QC.

I'm going to send mine back. Screen lift. Plus a new fault to mine, which I've read about on others, is the right hand side won't register touches. Magically it seems to work after restarting it, but then the fault returns.

I've ordered a Playbook instead - preferred the screen when I tested in the shop - speakers seem better and the audio chipset (Wolfson WM8993) is meant to be good

much cheaper, but I'm going to use for only audio and video playback, no apps etc

I've something similar, but I don't think it's just the right side. Generally it becomes very inconsistent generally (typing is next to impossible as only half the letters register) and is fine after a restart.

I wonder how man people dismissed the cheap Chinese tablets and chose the Nexus instead over fears of shoddy build quality...?

Rightly soo - even with the screen lift its miles better. If your real fussy then buy from Tesco and exchange until your happy - end of story.

I used a multi-touch app when this problem started happening, to see where the problem was.

Received mine on 20th July from google direct, will they still deal with me?

Going into Tesco once a week to replace my broken device is not something I should expect or consider acceptable when paying £200 for something.

I hope this drives Google to do better on the next tablet they make, rather than just drop the idea based on bad press.

I'm fairly certain ASUS wont be getting the contract for any more Nexus devices :D

Tesco have been excellent with regards to replacing my last 2. The second time (the one wth the chipped bezel) they offered to refund me £50 and keep the device or send out a replacement.

Just auto-upgraded Firefox Beta and have lost BBC iPlayer sound which, prior to upgrade, worked perfectly during Olympics. Anyone have similar problem or not please?

Just tried it, works fine. Does it do the same with the stand alone app?

I don't have the stand alone app installed. Problem is not just BBC. I have ne sound for any Firefox Beta but all was well before update.

Only things I can suggest is to reinstall Firefox, and install the latest flash which was posted in the essential androids thread the other day.
