I don't care what anyone says, smoking is cool

I noticed a lot of people seem to be racist against smokers on the forum  I though it would be nice to have a smoker's pride thread celebrating the goodness of smoking. The pleasure of truly savouring a cigarette.

Imagine your self hiking... the weather is cool and it starts to drizzle. You look around and see an inviting tree with big branches and a perfect spot to shelter beneath. There's a moss covered mound to sit against, it's soft and dry and perfectly comfortable. The drizzle has turned to rain now and you can hear the raindrops falling all around you but you're cosy and dry, the wet wood is bringing out the smell of the trees.

You reach in your pocket and feel that packet of fags... it fits in your hand so perfectly. It opens solidly and satisfyingly to present you with the 16 fags left inside. You pick one and draw it out of the packet. You tentatively lick your lips slightly, then wipe the spittle away with a knuckle. You put the cigarette in your mouth while you fish around in your gear for the lighter, all the time you can smell the tantalizingly delicious fresh tobacco under your nose.

With a flick of your thumb there's a warm flame in front of you. You get that first whiff of smoke... delicious. Go ahead and take a draw... savour those wonderful flavours... then feel that tingle as you inhale the smoke. It's absolutely wonderful. You hold it in your lungs for a moment and exhale. As you exhale all your worries and tension leave your body encapsulated within the smoke. You have been cleansed... your insides feel warm, as if you are lying back in to a warm bath. Aaahhhhhh :D

You study the warm glow of the cigarette while listening to your surroundings. All you can hear is the rain, deadened by the trees. Beyond that it's absolute silence. You are completely alone, just you, the wilderness and this cigarette. You feel the warm smoke dance around your fingers while you lie back and sink in to the dry moss and bracken. Close your eyes and take another drag.

This guy knows what I'm talking 'bout

Well it is, at least for kids it is, I think that's where the majority of new smokers come from today.

"I'm at school and what do I want to do to stand out and show how much I just don't care? I know I'll start smoking. Yeah I'll be so cool then"

Anyone who starts smoking out of school is plain retarded because 90% of the emotions in the OP are ones that come from being relieved because you are addicted.

I really enjoy smoking, but no, it's not cool. Sorry. I'll quietly enjoy my habit in the privacy of my own home (courtyard, anyway - don't really want cigarette smoke lingering about my flat) but I won't go waving my cigarettes in people's faces.

Edit: Also, smokers are not a race.

whatever, it's just a choice. i hate the flavour and smell, but if you like it then why not? just don't smoke around non-smokers or children...
what strikes me as distinctly not cool about it is how many people don't realise they're slave to an addiction.

Only movies make it look cool, any normal guy sitting in the rain smoking a fag doesn't look cool. Enjoyable though. I'm not exactly sure that smokers count as a race though.

Actually I believe smoking gave me a clear mental edge at doing school work when i started at age 11.

Nothing beats that first cigarette in the morning when you're walking down to the bus stop, get's your brain in gear for some school learning.
