Soooo.....

We've all been there before, but nowadays more than ever its seems car insurance is out of this world. Im 20, Male and have 3 years NCB but my quotes are near £2000 which is bang out of order.

Before you say it, yes I know a BMW 325 SE Coupe is a little big a powerful for a young male but believe you me, Im not your typical Chav in a Saxo !

So anyone have any ideas/suggestions for insurance, I'm finding a lot of company's are refusing quotes due to the type of car and the rest are quoting more than the cars worth... Plus the deals whereby you have a box in the car seem to make no difference/refuse to insure me ....

Any sensible comments appreciated :)

I'm going to tell you what you probably dont want to be told.

And that is.............. "You're better off either waiting a few years or getting something like a Saxo"

wait 6 years or get a Saxo :)

you do know that you are insuring against damage you may do to others/others property as well hence the high quotes

Try admiral and add your parents as named drivers

I'm 22 and drive a golf r32 mk5 which I think is group 18, pay £950. 3yrs ncb

Im sure you can keep the 325, You tried admiral and adding older folks and named drivers?

EDIT: Celliott beat me to it.

Yeah I have been adding my Mum who fits the bill nicely and it does reduce it a little but nothing like yours ... £2400 - £900 is an amazing drop !

Might have to bite the bullet and pay for it.... I'm obsessed with the car and would never give it up just because insurance is high !

As Celliott says, Try Admiral. Also try Elephant.co.uk, I found these 2 by far the cheapest.

Also, If your single, Dont put that... Put something else (other than married)
I'm sure this isnt fraud as how can single or co-habiting matter? But it sure brings it down another £100 or so, For me anyway.

I have tried Admiral yes... one thing that worried me is the fact that sometimes, not always, the quotes are good so I go to 'fake' buy it to see what happens and it says no under 21's !

Thanks for that, that is something ive never though of doing !!

Youve tried admiral right?
Because they seem best for Non-idiot(ncb) low twenty somethings with performance cars.

The Admiral/elephant lot were the cheapest by far. Ran a quote for the car I'm aiming to get, the 225 Audi TT, and it was £700. I'm 23, have 2 years NCB, live in an A rated postcode, and have been driving for 3 years.

I insure a UK TT Supra at 21 with 2 yrs NCB and 1 fault accident for £745 a year, £500 excess.

It can be done! And yes I know, postcode lottery.

23 yeard old, no NCB (not drove for a few years) on a 350Z GT (300BHP) and it will cost me £840 with Admiral .

I suggest you play around, you as policy holder and Dad, sister, auntie, uncle, dog, cat, fish on as named driver.

See which combo gives you the better rate, there's nothing wrong putting other named drivers on, it will affect the risk profile either negatively or positively.

To give a snapshot, adding my 28 year old sister reduces policy by £400.

Your car doesn't help, considered a boy racer high risk car by insurance companies.

Tbh if you can't find anything for under £2.4k I'd say either get rid of the car and pick up something cheaper to insure or buy a runaround (that's cheap to insure) and lay the car up for a year if you really cant bring yourself to sell.

That's just stupid money for what is hardly a spectacularly high performance car! I insured an MR2 turbo, under 25 with only a couple of years ncb for about £600. Changed days!

Try £2500 for a 23 year old with 2 years NCB ago, on a Starlet GT Turbo. Aye, the car doesn't help, but some insurers flat out refused to insure me because I lived in a BB postcode :(
