A bit slow compared to a lot of SSD but given its £43.99 ... VERY tempted.

Any idea what % speed increase i would get over a Samsung F3? I'm a complete noob to SSD's

If you buy this, stick it in a USB caddy, then you have quick portable storage with some useful space.

Like night and day difference. All SSD's have 0.1ms access time and it is this which transforms a PC or laptops performance. :)

Would this be suitable for a Dell Inspiron laptop, its a few years old as it came with Vista just before W7 was announced?

looks like sandforce drives are getting desperate for sales. still wouldnt touch it, doesnt matter how cheap it gets the value of my data and time is worth more than the risk taking on sandforce based drives.

Thanks JF, going to be upgrading it, thankfully to W8 as soon as possible, was a bit of a contentious purchase as it replaced a faulty laptop but just missed out on the inclusive upgrade to 7 so will be please to wave bye to Vista. Partly why I asked was whether the dimensions were suitable for a laptop as never done a laptop drive install before but I'm guessing it has room for a 2nd drive.

Hi Gibbo,

Will you be doing a 60GB model of this, perhaps for around half the price? Just thinking it might be good to give an old laptop a new lease of life and use it for RST SSD Cache which only needs to be around 60GB.

Nice little drives these, mines still going strong after some 18 months of hard use. Now down graded to a data storage drive (replaced by a Vertex 4). Paid £178 when I bought mine! A steal at this price, Might get another for my 2nd laptop.

The 60Gb is only $5 less for us to buy, so in short no.

Can anyone give advice about reliability of these drives please?
Reviews on product page seem great, but seen terrible reviews elsewhere.

Hi there

Guys some key points as to why you really need one of these:-

  • This is the 2E model, much higher quality components, I've checked our history, 1644 units sold and only 28 units back faulty. Sub 2% failure which is in line with Intel and Samsung.
  • The performance improvement for any desktop or laptop over a 7200rpm HDD is night and day, remember SSD have 0.1ms access time.
  • These are the peak of SATA2 performance, they offer close to 300MB Read/Write on SATA3 and outperform a lot of modern SSD drives.
  • 120GB is more than big enough for Win7/Win8 O.S. with Office with ample space to spare for games, photos etc.
  • Price, simply unbelievable, cheapest in the UK for a 120GB SSD and this is still a top performance drive.
  • Limited quantity, we only have 1400 units, once gone OCZ have no more and we've sold 400+ over night.
  • Just buy it, I mean £40, thats like the amount you generally carry in your pocket!
  • One more thing - BUY NOW!!! :D :D :D
