Guild Wars 2

Played for about 8hr per day but I was have the opportunity to run through it before quite a few times so it was not that new to me bar the amount of people I have had in the zones with me.

Hope the big day went well! :)

Sounds about right. And yes, very well thanks :).

Started a warrior last night and I think I prefer it to my mesmer. It's funny because I'm normally a caster or a healer but I'm enjoying the warrior.

Same here, i started with Ele, then to thief. Loving it!

i lvoe this game its a nice change like. i love my mesma but i was wondering when does the pvp start i am still leaning but i am also only level 11 or sumit like tht :p

You can go in PVP at the start mate. Just press H for your Char Screen then down to pvp. Bing Bang Bosh :)

P.s 8 hours gameplay a day... So many things i see wrong with this...

Edit: Does anyone know when the forums will be open too?

So I dinged level 73 last night, entered the last of the lowbie zones before heading to Orr.

Exploration is the key now, because there are no renown hearts at all!

Of all the dungeons I have done so far, Ascalon Catacombs was the hardest, its the only dungeon where the trash has been significantly harder than the bosses.

In saying that though I fully understand why, jumping in at the deep end so to speak really does teach you how to play properly.

Start shouting in /m in those zones and in the 70-80 zone in the north, in a group of 5 I powered through the final 10 levels in a matter of hours, quite literally. There are a LOT of very farmable events, a few minutes work (if that) rewards you with up to 17k xp, and the karma is very useful as well.

Oh and the 70-80 zone to the north does have some hearts if you havn't been there yet.

@The people who are hitting 70-80 already, have you played since launch?

I got up at 5am saturday morning, and played roughly 12 hours a day, except for Tuesday where I played about 6 hours, and I hit level 80 midday on Wednesday with a /age of 45 hours.

A few tips below if you're struggling.

Leveling is very quick if you play with a friend or two (or meet some people as you level like I did) because of how xp works there isn't any sharing, same with events so if there are 3 of you, that means things are (on the whole) happening 3x quicker and you're getting 3x the reward.

If you want to level quickly then don't waste time completing zones early on, hit up the easy objectives such as hearts you can complete at the same time as nearby events, once you're high enough level move on.

Identify events that are farmable, i.e. in Frostgorge sound there's a long chain of events, by the time you have done that and a couple of other events in the area, the first event of the chain is generally ready to be started again, did 3 levels in 1 hour 15mins using that circle.

You won't get enough XP solely from 1 zone, either explore multiple zones of your level range to get you through, or do as I did and boost you XP with WvW or Crafting.

Bother with crafting!!! Really nice XP, I out-leveled my crafting pretty early sadly because I could have hit 80 a lot quicker if I hadn't.

In truth there's no rush to 80, aside from a few dungeons that I have no one to do it with, I'm down-ranked everywhere and spent most of my time yesterday running around 1-15 zones farming Jute and working on my World Completion. (my next objective).

Desolation is always full, so what other servers are good to join regarding a lot of English speaking?

I'm on Gunnars Hold and it seems a really nice server, there's an OCUK server here as well although I'm not involved with it personally, a few other large gaming communities have chosen GH as well including RPS and PCG, and incase that wasn't enough, it's the home of SUN as well.

That's where I am too, it's the home of a DAoC initiative of old guilds from Prydwen and Excal, we're part of a larger initiative for this server along with the likes of PCG etc. :)

Don't know if it's me, Desolation, or Guilds in general that are buggy but I have to admit I am slightly bemused by that side of the game. I joined Immortals, but I only see guild chat (I think), if I'm "representing" them, which I can't do as everytime I click represent it turns itself back off instantly. Also considering a move to a lesser populated server.

Also, crafting. leatherworking in particular. Really struggling to find raw materials, despite using the salvage kits on everything I can find, am I missing something? Is there some way of getting leather other than mob drops?

How do i register to the immortals site?

Registration is now closed (to everyone other than OcUK members.) To get an invite it's best to hop on the mumble channel (details on site) and ask if an officer is present, or send a tell in game (email if preferable but I think they're still down) to Blounty, Dist or Sengar.

I'm guessing because of a lot of bonus XP, seeing as the general player hasnt made it there yet?

I think I have decided, the game is great, the events are amazing. Good fun, but the leveling just seems pointless to me... Have no real 'goal' to get to. In WoW, hit it on the head. You play your character to level xx, gaining skills, talents etc etc on the way. Giving you something to aim for. Once you got to the end game. You knew how to play and what your play style was.

Sure there were stronger builds than others. But none the less.

GW2, it's only flaw is the biggest for my in my opinion. No aim or 'feel' for your character. Try out several weapon types and combos, find the one that suits you. Done. Level 10 sorted. Sure you get a few more skills over time. But they are not play style changers. Leaving you with 70 levels of events and quests.

So yea, sadly, not the MMO I have been looking for :( Have 5 level 15's now, and just don't feel like playing anymore.

Absolute shame really, as if it had the same leveling mechanics as WoW (talents and skills every 2 levels), I would have been in heaven.

Please, don't get me wrong, GW2 is amazing, the devs have done a FANTASTIC job with this. Really good game and thoroughly rec it to anyone looking for a new MMO.

It might just be because I've been playing engineer, but I found my utilities did act as gamechangers for me, due to kits and gadgets. But eh, I don't think any game can be for everyone. It's nice to see someone recognise a game isnt bad, its just not for them. Obviously there's some games that can be considered bad, due to unintentional design pitfalls, but yeah, sometimes a game just isnt for you.

I've found the best way to get leather is to do areas with Centaurs and Bandits, they drop bags that often have leather in them. Best areas to do are probably the Human starting areas.

Having the same problem with tailoring :(

Are people moving on to the next higher lvl zones when they have completed a zone. Or do some people like to go and get all the achievements from the other cities and starter zones?
