Barclays being investigated by SFO over Middle-East bailout

How many more scandals are going to hit this bank? I certainly don't envy their new CEO's task. If there is anything in these allegations it would appear he's inherited a culture of corruption.

Barclays have always been bent, they were involved with south Africa during arpatheid and dodgy diamonds

Not just bent, but clearly never cared about its high street customers. Their service was so bad I closed my account. They even tried on the hard sell then, but it was satisfying telling them just how awful they were.

There are some that say it is about time we stopped finding fault with the banks and bankers, I am not one of those. If these people have broken the law then they should face justice, but I fear no one will be held accountable and the status quo will resume with business as usual.

We don't even know what they are being accused of yet, all that article says is that they asked the Quataris for £2bn loan and got it.

Criminal charges are the normal outcome of a SFO investigation, I await to be pleasantly surprised otherwise. I just think that the City of London seemingly adopting the business practices of 15th century Florence is somewhat worthy of comment. Obviously you do too otherwise you wouldn't be replying

Seeing as it's to do with the investment of the Qataris and the CFO is being investigated I'm gambling on it being misrepresenting themselves when going for the investment.
