Build/collect a model magazines, good value or rip off?

I have noticed two or three ads on the TV for magazines which include the building of a mode?

Build the Endeavour £5.99 for 70 issues
Classic Pocket Watches £8.99 for 80 issues
James Bond 007 Aston Martin DB5 £6.99 for 85 issues.

There is some serious cash involved in the making or collecting of these models and I struggle to think that any of them offer value for money.

Does anyone here buy/subscribe of intends to buy/subscribe to these magazines?

Sorry meant to add the totals if you bought all issues.

£8.99 x 80 = £719.20
£6.99 x 85 = £594.15
£5.99 x 70 = £419.30

To know if they're a rip-off we need to know the price of the end product at other sources. Those prices seem rather high, though.

They are a rip off as you can buy the end product for much cheaper. However if you don't have the lump sum of money it may allow you to get the end product over time.

It does suck if you miss an issue though!

Imagine building the boat & missing the 61st issue. :D

Complete rip off, I just can't understand why people don't just go to a decent model shop.

I work friend bought one to do with his son, it was the nitro car one a couple of years ago.
His justification for spending the 600 odd quid was it was a book as well to teach you how to build it and run it.

It wasnt what you would call a quiality model as well.

seemed a big ripoff to me, could have bought 3 of the models for the price.

bullit
