- Is it possible to be too rich?

Money doesn't buy you happiness. It can cause brief elevations of happiness through fame and material goods but you will eventually be going back to who you were.

Funnily enough, giving away your money would make you happier than holding onto it.

well go and earn some money and be happy instead of polluting the forum with this crap

This.

If you want to be rich Arek, no one is going to give it to you, so go and earn it.

But, if your intelligence levels can be deduced from the contents of your posts, I would wage a considerable sum of money that in 10 years time you're still at your computer moaning that you don't have any money. Rather than out in the world working for it.

Not me. May be you. But put your money where you mouth is and donate some to my epicfirst good cause!

The only time being too rich is a problem is the fame that you get whether you like it or want it or not. Added to that is the increased threat to your family and loved ones, and the chance of perception change and scammers and people trying to get as much money from you as possible. The responsibility and the way you behave and spend your money then becomes an issue. So yes, being too rich has it's negative aspects for me. As personally I'm not interested in fame or showing off.

There's only so much wealth in existence so we're all losing out because of excessively rich people, there comes a point where its nothing but greed and id argue that it doesn't take much to get to that point, a few million total for the life of the person sounds about right at most.

Ever heard of quantitative easing? Governments can print money at will if there is no peg to a commodity or if they willingly wish to devalue. Wealth is limitless, the value of money used to acquire it is not.

You know exactly what i mean, there is only so much real wealth in existence and being created, whatever a few million represents today is more than enough for an individual.

I'm not sure I do.

Wealth is defined by whatever people deem to be valuable. So it is virtually limitless.

Not strictly true.

60 years ago a lump of indium would have been practically worthless, now it's a prized ore, and when refined processed and fabricated into things like screens or solar panels it's now worth a lot lot more than it used to be.

hell take carbon, so common it's practicaly worthless process it correctly and it's worth millions per ton.
