Guild Wars 2

For me the two to three times a week casual gamer the game is perfect really perfect.

Makes me want to update my GFX card to see those stunning views better.

Makes me want to do the same thing! i currently have a GTX560 which is fairly good but when i put full graphics on it does lag abit but i think that's down to my CPU

Definitely will be mate.

Im running this on a 560ti with a Phenom 955be and am maxing the game easily at around 45-55 fps.

How do you guys make money?, i'm struggling to stay in the gold as i spent my money on cooking items!

Sell the stuff you cooked :D

Will be your CPU. My Mrs is playing on a GTX460 @ 560 clocks with an i3 2120 and it plays lovely. :)

I pretty much hover around 80 silver but I think so far I've had around 25g. It comes as fast as it goes really, probably over spent on dyes and gems but what the hey. :D

Sitting on 250 orachalcum and 30 ectos, just need powerful bloods before I can craft some decent gear.

Thanks will have to upgrade my mothboard/ram/cpu if i need to upgrade any further though :(

Hmm i guess i do spend a lot but i like to have a high bank balance :p

The gameplay is just too shallow and streamlined to keep peoples interest once the initial hype dies down.

Someone hasnt done AC and CM explorable modes yet. I want to do that stuff all day everyday, but every pug just fails and quits half way through because for the average player its way too hard to be fun, and theres only a few people in my guild also interested in doing them atm.

Theres hard and challenging, and then theres GW2 explorable dungeons which are just outright masochistic and pure evil. Oh yea, and the fire elemental in Metrica Province. Now Im just thinking how long it takes before everything is nerfed and dumbed down.

What's AC & CM?

I honestly don't think it will. The gameplay is just too shallow and streamlined to keep peoples interest once the initial hype dies down.

Um, the whole point of WoW is to get you from point A to point Z as quickly and efficiently as possible. There is no other game as shallow or as streamlined on the market currently.

GW2 actively encourages you to go from A to B-C-D-E etc all the way to Z. This game is far from being shallow or streamlined imo. I would suggest you are playing it 'wrong' if you find it so.

I'd love to be proved wrong, but i don't see anything in GW2 to keep hardcore gamers interested for very long. And i really wanted to love GW2 and tried, but its just so boring and generic.

Hardcore gamers make up a tiny fraction of the MMO market, and they are declining. There is a reason 25man HC guilds are all switching to 10man in WoW, the playerbase just isnt there.

boring and generic.

You havent played the game at all have you?!

What's AC & CM?

AC = Ascalon Catacombs (lv30 dungeon)

CM = Caudecus's Manor (in Queensdale) (lv40 dungeon)

Quick question, when people are talking about jumping puzzles is that the vista's that you got to find?

No. Vistas are vistas. Jumping puzzles are just that, hidden puzzles, that aren't signposted, but if you figure them out you'll get a medal reward, a chest, get to see stuff you wouldn't normally, and a feeling of pride and accomplishment :D

An easy one to get you started is in LA, NE corner, behind the waterfall ;)

good to know!

How many are there in general?
How do the dungeons work? Do they work like other world events with the orange map markers and hopefully other players join you?

What's AC & CM?

Pure evil stuff (in explorable mode) full of constant party wipes, lots of broken armor, 15+ silver repair costs, and awesome awesome loot :D

I only got 35 tokens from CM so far, pugs keep on quitting and only managed one full run with a guild group.

good to know!
How do the dungeons work?

You do them in story mode once, then you can repeat them in explorable mode which is immensely difficult and the hardest content in the game but with awesome loot and lots of chests.

They need to have a warning attached to them though, they are completely unpuggable in explorable mode without many people raging.

What was wrong with AC out of interest? TA was really fun, especially the last boss fight.

The fight with the two lovers basically. In essence it should work in a similar fashion to the Twins in AQ in WoW. The trouble is if somebody goes down you cant res them because you're always being hit by AE. the boss eseentially is zergable, which is what we ended up doing accidentally - die, spawn in at the next room, keep running in. The room layout doesn't lend itself well to 2 mobs with AE with bad telegraphs. the Hunterboss was fine, however.

As for CM... the first boss again has AE with no telegraph, I'm attacking it then insta-death (no telegraph means you cant dodge unless your lucky - poor show in a game designed around that mechanic). by the same ticket I then switched to my gun and stood there... I could have just gone AFK. Boring if I want to play Meelee. After that I pretty much walked through the rest of the dungeon that had an abysmal storyline.

This is based off the SM, I haven't done EX mode yet so I hope it's different

To be fair to Okatsu I think you're being a bit of a fanboy :p, as much as I enjoy GW2 and love the fact I don't feel rushed to level the lack of variation in mobs and combat does worry me a tad. I'm only level 31 but I now have all slots open to me and if I don't swap out weapons constantly during combat (which is rarely necessary) I'm forced to carry out the same moves each time. The only thing keeping combat going for me now is changing weapons and traits between fights so I have something new to play with and trying to dodgy/block as much as possible, otherwise I'd be half asleep.

Don't get me wrong I love the game, but I can see where people are coming from. The game is far from perfect but to me it's the most enjoyable MMO I've played since DAOC (and yes I think it's more enjoyable than WoW).

The best thing about GW2 for me as a very casual player is that not only do I feel no pressure to level, heck I rarely notice when I do, but alternate characters are something I'm already playing - normally in MMOs I'd stick to one character until max level then start on alts, in GW2 I give them equal love! :D
